ALO Interview Through FaceTime/Skype and CFA questions.

Hello, I assume these questions have been asked quite frequently; however, it would be great to get all of the info in one thread.

I will be doing my ALO interview on Tuesday, as well as my Candidate Fitness Assessment on Monday. I am wondering how much the CFA will be taken into account for getting an appointment. I plan on improving myself more, but have not had the time to get to the level that is needed. I have only recently learned about the USAFA and am not able to meet the averages for the CFA. How big of a problem is this/would I still have a chance in the Academy or Prep School?

Also, is there any tips on how to do the ALO interview through FaceTime/Skype? I did the nomination large panel interview in person and got the nomination but am wondering how the one-on-one online interview would be different. Lastly, the person that will be doing the interview is not my liaison officer, is this normal?

Thank you for any help/insight.

1) CFA is a pass/fail test and is, from what I’ve read, around 10% of your total package. Averages are not required to be met but if you fall too short you may be DQ’d. No one can tell you what the failing scores are but try your hardest as there isn’t much time to improve.

2) Treat your FaceTime/Skype ALO interview as any other interview dress nice and make sure you are in a quiet & clean environment. My ALO asked similar questions to my Nom Interview and my BGO interview. “Why do you want to...” “What have you done...” “What do you want to do...”. But be prepared for any curveball questions. Try and make a personal connection with your ALO interviewer and not just be an answering machine. Ensure your device is charged and has a stable & strong connection. Lighting is also important. Don’t block the microphone.

3) Your ALO is different than your ALO interviewer. This is the same for all applicants I believe.

Good Luck!

Thank you for the information and support! I will definitely take your advice and am going to try my best at the CFA and interview.

I passed with one event average and all others below average. ie 70 situps instead of the average of 78. Just do your best. Good luck!
