Hello,
Thank you a muchfor taking the time to read (and possibly answer) this thread. I am currently preparing for the ALO Interview. Mine is this Wednesday. Are there any last minute tips? I have written down a few notes that could help me, but I feel like the only way to truly practice for the interview are to know what questions are going to be asked for sure. I have seen that “why USAFA” is a common one. Are there any more? Also, will my restriction of using “um” have to be perfect? Or is it ok to slip one in maybe once or twice?
Thank you

There are so many threads here that go into great depth re interviews — ALO, BGO, nominations. Please use the search function to find them. You’ll get more info than you know what to do with.

There is a lot of info around about interviess but I will warn you that your interview may be completely different than everything you read. DS had his two weeks ago and he had read lots of anecdotal advice and info and almost none of the questions he expected came up, not even "why USAFA". Good luck!

Go into the interview with a couple of thoughts in your mind:

1. This is a job interview.
2. The ALO wants to know who you are, why you are the way you are, and what makes you a good choice to become an officer in the future?
3. Do you know what the honor code is, what it means, and could you honestly live under it?

Those are the big three for me as an ALO...

Now the bad news??

EVERY ALO is different! What I want to know may differ from every other ALO except for one key area: we ALL want to know if you're the person that, with four years of training, we'd be proud to see as an officer leading young men and women.

That's it.

Be yourself, be honest, don't be afraid to say "I don't know" if you don't know.

Yeah, my ALO interview was a lot different than I expected. He asked some of the typical questions, but it was not really like the questions I got during nominations interviews. I think that it will just depend on who you get.
