So, as the title says, I'll be speaking with my ALO tomorrow during school. Any tips, advice, etc? I'm dressing up in a shirt, tie, khakis, and shoes like sperry's shoes. Will this suffice? What should I expect? Thanks.

Since this sounds like your first meeting be sure to know how to respond to common questions like, why do you want to go to USAFA, is this entirely your choice (no pressure from parents), and you school leadership/extracurricular activities... etc.

Be sure to bring a resume, it makes you look professional. Above all, picture the ultimate goal, attending a SA and serving as an officer in the USAF. Don't worry, you will do great!

I was asked what my biggest life struggle was. While I had a "good" struggle in my life a while back and could answer quickly, I could imagine some people can't quickly come up with a good answer, so I recommend you think on that one. Eye contact and a firm handshake go a long ways!

As an ALO that has done hundreds of these meetings...

"BE YOURSELF!"

Don't try to impress the ALO...your achievements, your bearing, your demeanor, those will impress. BE YOURSELF...anything else will make you uncomfortable and will make the ALO wonder...

This is NOT an adversarial meeting; this is the chance to meet your ALO, to ask questions, to seek counsel, and to answer questions the ALO will have about you. Why USAFA, what interested you in the AF, etc...etc...nothing to trip you or stump you, just the chance for the ALO to know who you are!

I really enjoy these meetings!!
