Simple question: is it inappropriate to write an email to my alo wishing him happy holidays? Relating to this, how should I address my alo in emails? Lastly, when should I email my alo?

Simple answers, in sequence:

1. No, its very nice especially if you know him/her.
2. Address your ALO by their rank and last name unless they've given you something different to call them.
3. If you're not an applicant/candidate then you're technically not their candidate. However...any student can contact any ALO, but especially the one assigned to their school, at any time. We're here to help, whenever we can!!

As a BGO, I really don't expect any Holiday greetings from my candidates. If one did, use my rank or at the minimum "Mister"

In addition to my own candidates, I've been advising someone who parents and aunts/uncles and I have known each other for over 50 years. That candidate and family are a different story and we have exchanged greetings and adult beverages.
