Already 4/1, and still CPR. Did anyone get their decision yet?

I see that on USAFA's Forum, the academy put out a statement that their class has been essentially filled already. Does the same apply to USNA at this point? Should we only expect foundation, NAPS, or TWE? Also, I was told that appointments to NAPS come out on April 15th. Can anyone fact check this?

My DS is still waiting for both USNA and USAFA. He was accepted into the USMMA @ Kingsport, so he has an awesome plan B.

Candidate3256 - Where does it say that USAFA Class of 2024 has been filled?

Hoping to get into NAPS, didn't get a nom. On this forum I've seen people get an offer to NAPS all the way in February. There was also someone that got a NAPS offer on 4/1.

daughter went to USNA, son USMMA. The latter is so much harder because they clump 4 academic years into 3 in order to send them to sea for a year. Good luck to to you son.

Accepted to KP as well if USNA doesn’t fall through. Agree that is a solid plan B.

I believe it was on the thread “time to throw in the towel” Not that is has been completely filled, but that there were only a handful of spots left.

Based on the Class Portrait from previous years, as well as looking at last year's DIY appointment threads, the DIY appointment threads represent approximately 10% of the given year's class of offered appointments. This year, given those trends in past years, USNA has announced approximately 91% of their appointments for this year. Which means there are approximately 122 appointments that have not been released.

Anyone got a ballpark estimate on how many spots are left to be offered at this point?
I just watched an Instagram live video from USNA admissions, the counselor said that she could not give an exact number of slots but that appointments are still being given out. I am in the same boat as most people on this thread; have a nomination, CPR, and no waivers needed. Just keep your heads up and stay positive!

Just an estimation but I would say around 120 appointments are left. Last year’s class portrait states that 1360 appointments were given out. Refer to the appointment update forum and it has 124 candidates who have been offered an appointment. The forum notes that usually 10% of the appointments will report their appointment, therefore, 136 candidates will post. 136 - 124 = 12, so that leaves 12 more people to respond to the forum and 120 total appointments left. Definetly can’t verify that number for certain but it is just my educated guess.

Is that 120 spots for the U.S.N.A. or N.A.P.S.

I would not rely on people posting to this site or any other forum to determine how many appointments remain. Usually, very very few USNA appointments go out in early April. Definitely some, but not many, and at least some of those are going to folks waiting on medical issues to clear (i.e., 6 months post surgery).

However, as everyone knows, things are really messed up due to COVID-19. No way to say how -- or whether -- that has impacted timing of appointments.

People still CPR at this point need to focus on their other options. If USNA does come through, so much the better.

I agree that it is a slim chance ( unless cpr on wavier ) but honestly I’d rather not put 1000$ on plan B for housing & registration - which many schools required on April 1st -only to be given a yes ( or no ) a few days later, as having an extra non refundable 1K is not very common with so many out of work. I come from a old military family so I know how everything is “ supposed to “ work usually. However, it is frustrating for those candidates who have been CPR for months ( non wavier), especially with multiple noms. awaiting a slate placement. This late in the game, it would be appreciated if somehow those waiting could be given an “ odds basis “ so parents can budget appropriately with funds they do have. My Candidate has scholarship offers to other colleges & they are requesting answers to help move the money along to others if we don’t need it. Personally if I was told less than 30% odds for BFE for example- I’d be willing to put out 1K and take scholarships.
I can’t be the only person that thinks this way 😉

Nobody can give you even an intelligent guess at Odds--.'85's answer is as good as you can get. It is true there are few appointments this late, but the "odds" are actually better in some situations than others . I get the desire to avoid paying a deposit, but Navy Admissions only made one commitment , to wit: most will know by April 15. They are pretty good at meeting that commitment.

Everything else here, trying to calculate spots left, figuring odds, etc, is pure speculation unless you know all the variables involved, and frankly, unless we have an Admissions insider lurking, nobody knows !

@usna2024maybeormaybenot You may find it helpful to take a look at last year's DIY appointment thread.

Unless I'm reading this wrong, it looks like last year Admissions went beyond the April 15 cut off? And there was no world pandemic then.

I don't think they are prolonging until the very end, I just think that it is a pretty complex process with many dynamics at play - and that time (and timing) is part of their mysterious algorithm.

Hang in there!
From what I know, they go pretty far past the cutoff date. My brother (who is a midshipman) has a friend who did not hear back until June.

It was the 90s but my admission date was May 19th. If you are CPR, you are still in the fight! Remember, USNA is not the only path to your goals. From reading the posts, you all have outstanding back-up plans and are incredible people!

Check with your schools....with this COVID stuff, I know at least DS's school is waiving many fees, deadlines, etc.

Just wondering, if you were told it was 31 pct, what would you do? But guess what...if you get one, its 100 pct!
