Already 4/1, and still CPR. Did anyone get their decision yet?

From what I know, they go pretty far past the cutoff date. My brother (who is a midshipman) has a friend who did not hear back until June.
For sure an exception. Maybe not this year, who knows, but normally a rarity.

This is the final stretch, IMHO I highly doubt AOs are making any character judgments if a viable candidate checks in. If they have offers from other institutions that are asking (out of courtesy) to make a decision as soon as possible, I don't think a check is breaking unwritten rules. In most of the Admissions briefs DS participated in, they were encouraged to reach out to AO with questions. I do, however, think that it is fruitless and may add stress when no answers are given.
Agree. Did you get word? So much anxiety this year on top of the normal waiting!

C'mon man, really? Combat? Give these kids a break...
Do you know how you'd be in combat? I thought I knew how I would be, but I (luckily) never faced combat - few in our military have or even will!
Funny, my Dad was a combat veteran of the Korean War and he used to always talk about the "garrison" soldiers that thought they would be the Audie Murphy's when the "shells came their way". Guess what? He said that most of the toughest and baddest *** types were the first ones to crap their pants in combat, and the one's whom everybody thought would turn and run ended up being some of the coolest under fire. Worrying about an Academy nomination at 18 years old is hardly a harbinger in predicting whether a young person is "up to this" or not. This is a big deal to these young people and likely the 2nd biggest decision/opportunity of their lives.

Between 2001 and 2011 73% of our Active Army had served in Iraq or Afghanistan. During that time frame, I served 3 tours total, I have many more at this point. I know very few who had NOT seen combat in some form during those 3 initial tours.

Just adding clarity to your statement that "few have...or even will see combat" It is simply not true for our Army over the last twenty years.

But, prayerful the current generation does not.

Diggin' up some old stuff here...Because you have served multiple tours, you know there is a big difference between seeing combat and serving in a combat zone. 73% may have served (your numbers), but 73% did not see combat.

I know very few who did not see combat in some form. Mortars, rockets, IED'S, small arms fire, complex attacks on logistics convoys, snipers....FOB and COPS were not safe havens. There was no "rear area." The surges and the years before and after were brutal...just about everyone I know who served during those years has a CAB or a CIB regardless of their MOS.
