Already Rejected

I really appreciate the support from everyone here.

I will be sticking with these forums for many years to come, as a Cadet/Midshipman and beyond.

Curious minds want to know. Did your CVW provide you with any insight on why you were rejected by USNA?
Or was your rejection a clerical error and you are still in contention for an appointment for the class of 2017?

I received a call from an admissions officer while I was on my way to the Academy and he wanted to setup a time for us to meet while I was at my CVW.

So at about 9am on Friday I left my Plebe at calc class and walked over to Leahy Hall and had about a 20 minute meeting with an admissions rep. They went over my file, and unfortunately, this wasn't a clerical error.

He said my SAT scores, leadership, athletics, etc., were all competitive. However, my junior year grades held me back. I had some very severe circumstances that the admissions board was was aware of, but I guess they made their decisions.

The admissions officer and I reviewed what I need to do to get in next year as well, and although my file isn't officially closed (hopefully this semester with straight A's can help me get re-evaluated), I doubt I will be a Plebe this summer.

I may decide to go to West Point as I have been told by several MALO's that my chances are pretty good there because of the different admissions process/different weighting. If not, then I will be reapplying as an NROTC Midshipman next year.

I was indoctrinated with the 'Go Navy!' stuff while there, and it was sort of hard even to consider West Point since my dad is a USNA grad and I am constantly surrounded by his classmates. I love Navy, but the more I read about USMA, the more I want to go there. We all know it's the same team.

Nothing left to do but work hard and do the best I can. I WILL graduate from one of those institutions.

While that is unfortunate, congrats on having the perseverance to continue. Most would give up and accept defeat, but you are very determined. No one will hold it against you if you decide to go to West Point. Both USNA and USMA are fine institutions. and it`s awesome that you have a great chance of getting in. Hopefully, your grades this year will get you in, but if you, there`s always Army, or next year.

Best of luck. :thumb:
