Already updated to Candidate Status

Mine were the same way. I believe it was about June or July that they updated to the next cycle. The original due dates were early September but were pushed back due to COVID. Again though, every MOC does it a bit differently.
Thank you! It's also a bit messy this year since one of the senators was voted out (AZ) and the new senator doesn't have a nom page on his website at all, so I was just a little worried. That's good to hear though, so thank you again!

Both of my senators + my rep haven't updated their nomination websites yet (Still shows C/O 2025). Is this normal? I thought that they should be starting the nom process soon, so I'm just a little worried. Any advice would be great!
Just keep looking back...all of sudden it will update and you'll be allowed to open the ap.

I’m just going to throw this out there. This process is not a sprint, it’s a marathon. Once you submit your PCQ, you will be reviewed and deemed competitive or not. If you are competitive, you will get more information begging in July. You will then have about 4ish months to complete everything. Then the wait begins. The wait will be long. I’ve applied to the c/o 25 and have not heard anything since October. If you have not heard back anything on your PCQ yet, you will eventually. USAFA is also transitioning to a new admissions system so there will be some problems that arise. Be patient, be understanding. Best of luck to all of you applying to the class of 26

I just got an email from USAFA Admissions that says my PCQ has been reviewed and approved, and I will move on to begin the candidate phase on July 1st. I was not expecting such a quick decision on my PCQ, I’m so excited! In the meantime, is there anything I should be doing other than pursuing noms until July? Of course, I will also be preparing for the CFA and finishing out the school year. Thank you to all of you for your help in this process so far!
On the page where I have to submit my PCQ, I am not sure if I am being oblivious to some obvious detail but I can only see my completed Summer Seminar application sitting there, and nothing else. Where can I find my portal to the PCQ, or how can I fix this bug?

Hi fellow AZ'er. When our DS applied last cycle, I believe it was early to mid summer before applications were open. One site was not up and running much later than the other MOC's. Some had glitches that required some work arounds. When it does open, just make sure you establish a good relationship via email with the MOC's point of contact for nominations. But, don't blow up their inbox or pester them.

get to know current math & english teachers and alert them about forth coming recs...
Great advice! I would go ahead and ask if they would be willing to do the recs over the summer when they have more time. If so, when your portal opens in early July you can go ahead and fill in their info and get those out of the way.

Congratulations! You can start working on the next steps including giving teachers a heads up regarding recommendations, SAT/ACT, CFA, start thinking about an essay and take a look at your nomination sources requirements and due dates. You can also start collecting any significant medical information to get ready asap for DODMERB. Pay attention to the application due date once it opens. Last year, those with July 1st date had an earlier due date of November 1st to complete their application. Good Luck!

You are going to want to select the blue "Start a new application" button located (for me) towards the upper right corner of the portal. Most of the info from your SS application will transfer over, but you will need to upload a photo of your SSN. After you have submitted it, your SS and completed PCQ will show up side by side in the portal.

If you look on the portal, there should be an option to fill out another application. Select that and the only option there would be a PCQ, since SS apps are completed.

Thank you! I was worried that button would have me start a new SS application.

Thank you! Just a little worried since I actually live overseas so it might be a bit inconvenient in terms of applying, but hopefully it'll be fine. Thank you again for the advice!

Went through the website FAQs and finally found that the application will open on May 15th! (Couldn't find the info for the senators, though) Fingers crossed!!

To those that have received the email stating that there PCQ has been reviewed and approved. Did you apply via the Summer Seminar application and if you don’t mind sharing, on or about what date did you submit that application. Thank you.
No, I just applied through the portal. You may look into it in their site and the blue button “apply now”

If you live abroad and your parents does not live in any states, you cant apply for the congressional nomination. I also live abroad which is one of the problems I’m thinking of — harder to get a nomination.

I have a permanent address back in the States and I've emailed my Rep's office explaining my situation and they said that I can apply for a nom there. As far as I know, if your parents pay taxes and are registered to vote in a state, you can apply for a nom there.

If someone else could provide some clarification that would be great! This is just based on what I've heard but I'm not sure if it's accurate or not.

I believe what your saying is right! Sadly my parents don’t have a permanent address in the states.

Many of our elected representatives don't get the Academy nomination portion of their website updated until late Spring. Just keep checking and make sure that once they establish a deadline for the nomination application you are not late. If you are late (regardless of the reason) they will reply "Apply again next year."
