I have an LOA from the Naval Academy but somehow I slipped through the cracks during the congressional nomination process. Nobody gave me a nomination to USNA, how good of a chance do I have of getting a Vice presidential or Superintendent's nomination?

Thanks to all

There is always a chance. No one could really answer your question without far more knowledge about you and everyone you would be competing against. Since there are no guarantees I would be sure to have plan B in place though.

VP and Supe Noms are very hard from what I read in past threads. There's few old threads on this. I think I read in the past USNA will work with LOA candidates to find you a Nom but now that is not the case. It may depend on where you are applying from and district competitiveness. What's your state and district? Also did you let your Congressman know you got an LOA, when did you get your LOA?

I'm in TX-26, Congressman Michael Burgess. I received the LOA in early November and personally went to the Congressman's office to ensure that they knew about it. It was even brought up in my interview.

Hmm. Normally you have an LOA, MOC gives you a Nom for the Academy you have LOA. And you made that clear from what I read. Because as you know it is a sure thing the Academy will give you an Appointment with a Nom. And that's good for you, for the MOC and for the Academy. It's a win win. Just sit tight and wait. It can take awhile even until the very end, so have a good plan B lined up and commit to that one if date nears May 1. And still wait for USNA to get back to you. I read an article today that a young lady was called 2 days before the I-Day last June and she happily rushed to USNA in 2 days notice. It happens. One of the kid I mentored paid his deposit to Carnegie and in mid May he got a call from West Point with a Supe Nom. He had no Noms so it happens. Hang tight and make sure you implement a good Plan B school in the meantime.
