Am I Competitive Enough Thus Far To Get Into The USAFA?

Hello all,
I am in my junior year in a Co-Op (homeschool) high school. I am holding a 3.75 GPA and will hopefully like to get that up to a 3.8 or 4.0. I would love to go to the USAFA and study Cyber Science as my degree and am passionate about commissioning and becoming an officer in the USAF. Things I am doing include: the Civil Air Patrol (CAP), Soccer, a program called Cyber Patriot through CAP, qualified as a Ground Team Member for search and rescue missions (GTM3) also through CAP, I have swum 4 years competitively in the past (not anymore because of health reasons), I currently hold the CompTIA A+ Certification and Cisco CCNA certification (Professional IT Certifications), and am apart of a National Honor Society called Senior Beta Club. I am soon to take the PSAT, SAT, and ACT so those scores are TBD.

**Edit: I am fairly comfortable with the CFA as I workout every day and am proficient in running (~6.12minutes/mile)**

From my transcript thus far, am I a competitive candidate? If not, what are some pointers that will hopefully help me get into this "more-than-just-a-college". ;)
Thank you for your precious time. I hope to hear back soon,
'Tech.

My only question is the "health reasons" for not swimming. Some medical conditions are denied or need a waiver to attend. Your activities look good, but you need to show leadership. Where and when did you lead a group or was a team captain? Study for the SAT/ACT.

The medical condition is listed on the DODMERB DQ list. Will I be able to get a Waiver theoretically? Thank you

There is no way for anyone here to answer your question. Some DQ's are never waiverable, some are often waived. In addition, some SA's may be more likely to waive certain DQ's than other SA's.

I would also be cautious about disclosing too much information on this forum as well.

The answer to the waiver question is, it depends on the medical condition.

Your test scores will be important. Study hard!

Maximize leadership opportunities. Academies want leadership, not just participation.

You are a little behind on testing. I tell my candidates that they should have taken the PSAT by now, hopefully the first time as a sophmore and then PSAT as scheduled in the fall of Junior Year with the FIRST runthru of SAT and ACT by the end of December to allow time for improvements in the spring. You really want to have competitive scores by the end of the summer if at all possible.

For the medical you don't know unless you apply.

I will say that for the c/o 2023 the amount of waivers that were granted were drastically reduced compared to the previous few classes. We were told in a parents meeting on I-Day from General Sylvaria that USAFA had not been filling all of their pilot spots for several years. Part of this was due to the amount of waivers granted and the smaller pool of DODMERB Potential Pilot Qualified candidates they had to start with in each class. For the c/o 2023 they asked admissions to admit a much higher number of PPQ candidates (close to 800) so the pool of potential pilots would be larger to meet the demand for pilots. I'm not sure this will be the case for the c/o 2024 and beyond but I would assume it will until the "needs of the Air Force" change.

Thank you for this reply. I will definitely apply.
