I check my candidate portal and everything is marked complete. Nothing has changed for awhile so I called the admissions office. According to them the packet is still not sent to the committee board yet. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

You are being patient as you can be cause i checked my portal everyday twice a day maybe until I finally received my appointment and out of habit would continue to check my portal everyday still. Now I check it 3x a week or so for any updated information.

You did the right thing calling into admissions to ask about your status. Just because they haven't reviewed your application yet does not necessarily mean its a bad thing. They are extremely busy this time of year and certainly they will be reviewing it soon. No news is good news. And fyi: you hear through the mail first before online in most cases so that may relieve your checking of the portal... or not . Also most candidates hear from the academy beginning/mid-april so you should be hearing super soon! I guess I was fortunate to hear back in late january because I don't know what I would be doing if I were still waiting in your shoes.
Best of Luck!!!

Don't waste your time checking the portal, after I got the packet I checked 2 times a day to see when I could finally accept, it took like 2 weeks after my appt. was sent for the portal to change. Check the mail instead of your portal, and hope. Best of luck, hope to see you at R-day.

More info?

So what does change on the portal when you get an appointment?

The portal does change after you receive an appointment, although there is a time delay for processing purposes. Usually about a week and a half after the mailings come in. The added features include a place to accept/decline your appointment, uniform/boot information, travel information, immunization form acceptance, police-record check acceptance, and some other things you must resolve before you show up on R-day.
