America and China showdown over Taiwan.

No way we put boots on the ground in Taiwan. Not going to happen.

Let me think about that some more.

Nope.
I still think we would, losing Taiwan means jeopardizing Japan and Philippines and giving China a huge advantage in the Pacific.
Also keep in mind that a similar situation happened back in 96, known as the Third Taiwan Strait Crisis, Clinton ordered Nimitz and Uss Belleau Wood to sail through Taiwan strait. Pretty much a show of force to China.

Not trying to be political or anything but I believe that Taiwan is independent and I think China should leave them alone.
China considers Taiwan to be a "rogue province" of China.

That’s what China considers for everything, pretty soon they will consider Philippines to be apart of them and maybe even Japan. Besides Taiwan has what it takes to be a nation, own military, president, democratic voting system.

Well the thing is that the American public wouldn’t want to intervene because first,Most Americans don’t know where Taiwan is on the map so they would assume us being involved would be like Iraq and a waste of money. However, you are right on the fact that Taiwan is important strategically in the Pacific, should the us lose Taiwan it will affect Asian allies negatively and our troops in Okinawa would be in danger. Remember, China wants to use Taiwan as a gateway to the Pacific.

Chinese invasion of Taiwan is an interesting thought , makes for some interesting military fiction and games but I think as a practical matter it would not be in China's national interest. It also makes for good work for staff officers to draw up plans

A Taiwanese company, Foxconn is the largest private employer in the PRC as well as the largest Apple supplier/assembler on the planet. It is only one of dozens of large Taiwanese enterprises operating there. My son's host father in Taiwan flew to the PRC for weekend golf outings.

For all the high talk and bluster the two economies have developed an economic codependency that borders on that of US/Mexico or US/Canada. Only an idiot would upset that apple cart. But it has been known to happen.
Negative, China’s Kai shek came over from China. Taiwan got screwed over when the kmt came over.

Good. You did your did your reading.

What do you mean negative? How many countries recognize Taiwan's independence? They have no seat at the UN and can't even fly their flag or sing their National Anthem at the Olympics. Since the diminution of the KMT most Taiwanese are reconciled to de facto independence and have given up on de jure independence in their lifetimes. Since the Shanghai Communique and their loss of the UN Security Council seat, they have done quite well to concentrate on developing economic ties with the mainland and asserting independence in a measured fashion.

Did the Gaoshan (Malaysian) indigenous people of Formosa get screwed when the Fujianese crossed the Strait of Taiwan and took over?

So I agree that the Navy would come in first, air carriers are a good deterrent. Marines may be sent to Taiwan to help reinforce the island. What about the US army? Would they get sent in too?

The US Army wouldn't be the first responders, I can guarantee you that. Why? There are no Army troops near the island, Okinawa is mostly Marines and Airmen with the exception of the second Special Forces Group. Other than that, the closest Army infantry unit to Taiwan is in Korea and I doubt they would just airborne drop them to Taiwan when the Marine infantry unit is already in Okinawa and they are specialized in island operations.

ARG = Amphibious Ready Group as I recall one big happy family of marines and sailors
Essex = USS Essex LHD 2 40,000 tons , 1,800 sailors and 1,200 Marines full of whup butt
