Will a student ever hear back from the USNA if they didn't receive a nomination for that school? My ds received an appointment to the USAFA but he also applied to the USNA. Since his nominations were listed as USAFA, he won't receive one for the USNA. Will he ever hear anything at all from the USNA since there is no nomination?

Is his portal CPR? I've heard the first few large waves of TWE's will go to those who have no chance in the NWL (i.e. no noms), but someone may know better than I do

I know that sometimes Admissions will offer candidates without noms a NAPS spot if they are valued enough. (Correct me if I am wrong)

Yes...the Nomination process is seperate and distinct from the Admissions process. I would expect a TWE in the first wave...but NAPS or Foundation may still be possible.

Correct me if I am wrong please, but I heard that each academy handles the VP nominations and usually give the spots for each academy (in this case USNA) to worthy candidates who did not receive a congressional or senitorial nomination.
Meaning that a few candidates with no nominations may still have a chance if they applied for the VP nomination.

None of know how USNA uses the VP noms. Admissions board makes a decision and then it goes to the next step to find a Nom. It could be used here or the candidate might have gotten a prep school recommendation from the admission board.

USNA will make a decision on your application by April 15 and they will let you know even if you do not have a nomination.
