When I was a kid (back when the air was clean & sex was dirty), this song was played in recruiting commercials for the AF. Love this updated video. It shows the SR-71 Blackbird (can anyone name the base shown?) as well as one of Galileo's conclusions involving a hammer & feather proved right on the moon! I also included the older one as it's pretty cool too (love the way the flag looks with 48 stars). They're all about 1:30" each. Enjoy!!

The orginal:

And for you bomber fans out there, "When the Air Force Takes Command" song from the movie, "Strategic Air Command" with Jimmy Stewart & June Allison.

Edwards?...Beale?

I like the original version...especially the B-47 JATO takeoff and formation flyover...now we're ecstatic when we get one B-1 to fly near the DMZ...

I don't know the base either, but was hoping that the model of what looks like an experimental jet would be the clue. Agree as well that JATO is pretty cool.

Always liked the original song. Saber Jets and B-52. Maybe Guam? JATO is a great takeoff. Landed at Utapao TAFB and crew chief says do you see those black aircraft over there? No you don't. We saw them on radar many times up over asia and to and from Guam. Those Blackbirds could really climb and kick it into high gear.

That is the Bell X1-E and it is on display (it's the real thing, not a model) in front of the NASA Dryden Research Center at Edwards AFB in California.
