And now we wait...

Well, it's Dec! Good luck to all who wait. I've gotta say, my DS is handling the wait MUCH better than I am!

OMG, just heard from my D who just checked her Bear's Den page, and she got in!!! It's conditioned on her dodmerb, but I am so happy for her. Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday to her:biggrin:

Seems the above poster was right that they were meeting this week, so there should be some more happy posters in the near future. Good luck to everyone!

have been reading along.....

and wondering when the "thanks, but no thanks" letters go out. Our daughter applied for Early Action, and the wait is killing us. When someone does not get in, do they get a letter right away, or could it come at any time? Hate to get my hopes up because we haven't received anything yet. Thank you.

Hang in there. All EA applications should be notified by 12/24. EA applications are still being reviewed.

After all Early Action reviews are completed, students will know if (1) they received an appointment, (2) if they were not selected for this year's class or (3) if they are being offered a space on the wait list.

Best of luck to those of you still waiting to hear.

Would they also know at that time if they are being offered a Scholars opportunity?

Thanks!

Yes, Scholars have been offered at the same time. At least in the past.

I have an update. My D was actually offered a CG Scholar spot and not a direct appointment. Saw congratulations and went from there, lol! Then we actually sat down and read the entire letter. She's still excited that she's getting this opportunity and believes that she will be even more successful when she gets to the Academy a year later but will still have all the benefits starting next summer. Waiting on her dodmerb results, but don't think she'll have any problems with that. Gang of paperwork to fill out and will still report to the Academy next summer for orientation and be sworn in. Very excited. Good luck to everyone:)

Congrats, to your DS! My DS did that. Lot's of advantages to the program over direct appointments. PM me with any questions.

Congrats, Runningirlmom! We would be thrilled with a CGAS offer. Actually, I'm kinda hoping for it! Such a wonderful opportunity.

Btw, was this on her portal or in the mail?

Again, Congrats!:thumb:

On her Bear's Den page, the box was checked for the Board Review was complete and a decision was available which then took her to the actual letter which had a link to the CGAS site with all of the paperwork to download and info on the prep schools. I would assume that something is coming in the mail as well.

As AUXNOOB said, CGAS is an incredible opportunity that should not be taken as anything less. Talk to most CGAS graduates that are now Cadets and they will tell you that things for them were easier than their counterparts with direct appointments. Im sure some actually wish they had the CGAS opportunity.:thumb:

I have one DS in his first year at USAFA and another who will be applying for USCGA for the class of 2020. My son at USAFA says that the preppies really have it on the ball...not as stressed and from what he can see, doing well academically. He seems to be holding his own but some of his direct admit friends are struggling academically and these are very bright kids.

Look at the extra year of prep as a tremendous gift. congrats!

We received the Scholars acceptance too!

Runninggirlmom,
Thanks for posting the note about your dd logging in and seeing her acceptance. I saw your post and had my ds login immediately and he found the same...accepted to scholars! He told me he was unsure whether he should be excited or disappointed at first. I assured him this was a great opportunity and he should be extremely proud! The more we research, the more we realize that this is the perfect entry to the Academy! Ds is now thrilled beyond belief and looking forward to the adventure. He knows this is the ideal route for him. Thanks to all for your posts. This forum has been amazing. Good luck to those who still await a decision.

EA rejection letters have already been going out, for a while already, according to the AO we spoke to at a recent fair.

We received our "wait list for CGAS notice" on the bear den page around 12/20 last year. Tough timing. Son is self prepping this year and we wait again. :)
