Another Chapter In GO/FO Breaking Bad

Interesting discussion. I have never seen it other than “hack,” as in, “The skipper put LT Finarkle in hack for that stunt she pulled at the Dining In.”

A quick Google of the phrase “put a Navy officer in hack” brought up all kinds of references, unofficial, using “hack.” Here’s one of them, because half the fun is scrolling through vintage slang.

If you do the same search using “HACQ,” more slang lists come up. This one, obviously, uses “HACQ.”

It’s like a which came first chicken or egg situation. Did someone get creative and create the acronym HACQ as noted above, and it came to be pronounced and written as “hack?” Or did “hack” evolve first, and someone cleverly reverse-engineered and fancied it up with “HACQ?”

🤔

that's exactly it. just like the way kicking someone out of the Navy for bad conduct has always been a "Big Chicken Dinner" (BCD)

then some enterprising hinge needed a fitrep bullet and came up with "Bad Conduct Discharge" cause it sounded fancier

Next topic: how many sea dogs can dance on the head of a pin?

How did we get here from the original topic???
