Depends on the timing of the declined appointment. The earlier it is declined before April 1, the better the chance that someone else from that MOC will get an offer. After April 1, NWL offers are made according to merit. Good luck.

Speaking to this specifically, our son had the tough choice to decline USMMA and he declined as soon as he made his decision, with the hope that his decline would open a door for another awesome candidate.

@ohiomom2 I've never heard anyone explain my exact situation so well, as explained above. I'm from Ohio too!

@BigJoe2024 let's hope and pray that the way our leaders are treating the pandemic situation prevents the class from missing out on everything! Trying to stay positive that the governor's actions keep things under control and we can resume life and the class can enjoy and least some of the senior year activities! Not to mention the much deserved recognition for all the hard work!! Good luck to you!

@ohiomom2, I know your DS is disappointed at what he is missing right now, but you can assure him that USMMA will provide him with lots of formal dances and award ceremonies that will make up for it. Stay strong!

Thats what we keep saying at our house!! I hope everything is back to normal by the time of Indoc.

My dd was emailed this morning : Based upon the results of the academic screening and evaluation of your application, you have been found to be academically qualified and have been placed on the national waiting list as a Hold Candidate.

This is such an emotional roller coaster ... so she is planning to go to her 3rd choice school (still have not heard from her 2nd choice) but she is holding on to hope.

If she ends up not getting in this time, I would encourage trying one of the prep schools to try again. I am currently a cadet at the New Mexico Military Institute and the support that preps get is great and it will prepare someone for any academy academically, physically, and just in the overall military style life.

No word yet on whether or not they will even have a graduation! Still holding out hope for some positive news for all these things and of course an appointment!! I decided to do something special for our HS Seniors. I had another parent contact me about planning a parade in our town to celebrate our Seniors. So, I created the event and we will be having it May 23rd. I have also secured several fire departments and police to participate. The administrators, staff, and guidance counselors are also participating! The Seniors deserve to be celebrated!
