I have never been diagnosed with anxiety. I had one panic attack 3 years ago - but this was never diagnosed. However, DoDMERB is asking that I submit all medical records regarding my anxiety (I was stupid and self-reported anxiety). I contacted the doctor and they sent me two doctors notes from routine physicals, one from a few months ago, in which the doctor mentions me having anxiety (not diagnosed anxiety, just normally being a more stressed and high strung person). Will these documents disqualify me? Or is being on meds/being diagnosed necessary for disqualification?

I can't comment on your particular situation as each case is different and I am far from being a DoDMERB expert. Hell I don't even play a doctor on TV.

I will say that anxiety, even anxiety under stress, is a undoubtedly a big deal to the military. I'm confident there is nothing more stressful than combat. Will you be able to lead troops under that stress, making the right decisions, in the proper time, with incomplete information? This is what they will be concerned about.

To lurkers and others who stumble across this thread, this is why you do not self diagnose on the questionnaire. It only leads to troubles. If a doctor didn't say you have it, then you don't have it.
