Any appointments yet?

Some LOAs and appointments have started going out. My understanding is that most EA prospects will know if they have an appointment (conditional if it things like DodMERB haven’t been completed, etc), referral to regular admission cycle, rejection, or prep school by December 23, 2022 and the board meets almost weekly to review applications (in the order they were received completed) and that you will receive an email notifying you that your application is up for review soon. Hope this helps.

DD is anxiously awaiting. Has multiple offers for sports at state/private schools which are hard for her to pass on. Still holding out for now. Can't wait to see how soon they start rolling in.

They should start to trickle out anytime. Two years ago DS1 received his appointment on 1 Nov.
And 3 years ago, the first appointments were 10 December....so who knows! I think appointments were unusually late that year though.

I’m (im)patiently awaiting a decision! I was informed my application was going before the review board a few weeks ago and have spent the last week or so trolling the forums looking for the first appointments!

Ugh, not yet for us. The waiting game is killer! USCGA is a clear first choice for DS. so hard when schools that are recruiting him for athletics are getting impatient for an answer.
This! Some offers are easier to pass on than others, but when they've got great offers and great schools, the waiting is so hard!

We just got back from an overnight invitational at USCGA. Two important things to note:
1. If you applied for EA you will have one of the outcomes by Christmas Eve- Appoint, CGAS, defer to regular review (with a detailed letter about what they would like to see, for example- fall semester grades, test scores, higher PFE scores, etc.), do not appoint, waitlist, CGAS waitlist
*** 2. The board meets on Thursdays. Decisions are released Fridays. IT WILL BE POSTED IN A LETTER IN YOUR BEAR DEN ACCOUNT!!! (So check your Bear Den account on Fridays after you get the email saying you’re up for review, instead of hanging around the mailbox waiting for a physical letter).

Hope this helps. Best of luck to everyone.

I would guess that by the end of next week there will be some movement.
Yes, they just started meeting and will meet on Thursdays and will release decisions on Fridays IN YOUR BEAR DEN ACCOUNT (not a physical letter). Hang in there. The waiting is the worst part.

That is different than I heard at a program just a couple weeks ago. I didn't think they did waitlists for EA, only for Regular applications. That must have changed from the past couple years. At the event I helped at, they even mentioned that they used to do waitlists for EA, but haven't done that for a few years.

You may be correct about that regarding waitlists for EA… I was taking notes during the brief and this information was towards the end of the program that was already running a bit behind schedule so it may be that the LT who said that sits on the admissions board put out all of the decision options and I didn’t realize he had switched from talking about EA to RA. But regardless, those are all of the possible outcomes. Also, one of the cadets who is a current freshman at the academy said he was an EA and didn’t get pulled off of the waitlist and offered a full regular appointment until MAY! So it could be a long ride but everyone hang in there!

You just never know what the cycle will hold. Our experience last year DD was deferred from EA to RA and then waitlisted, and then pulled from the waitlist in very late May (less than 30 days before day 1). Our experience several years back w our DS was a Scholars appointment in Dec (EA)... a waiver denial in late April. The beauty of the preparations to apply to a service academy is that most of these kids will have many great options, the misery of it is a kid who truly wants a service academy life may struggle to get excited about a civilian option. Its a roller coaster for sure!
