Any BOLC dates drop yet?

My son called this morning - med services - he got his "unofficial" date today. Originally they were told they would learn BOLC date and PCS location at the same time but he was only told his date today.

DS told Jan 2018 for FA. Not happy as he wants to start ASAP. Looking into either gold bar and or trading. If neither of those work out he will get a short term job. If any FA folks want to trade shoot me a PM and I'll put you in touch with my son .

Has he considered applying to be Advanced Camp/CLC/LDAC cadre? This gets them onto active duty shortly after commissioning too. They then have priority for BOLC because they have already been accessed onto AD.

An issue with GBR may be his assigned BOLC date. I can't find the regulation or guidance but as I recall AD GBR recipients must have a BOLC date within 179 days of their commission date, maybe less. Though I had never heard of it before, last year some cadets may have been prevented from participating as a GBR if their BOLC date is in the new fiscal year due to budget restrictions.

You're correct, my younger son did not report until Jan. after he graduated and he was told the same thing as far as GBR goes. I think it may be to late to inquire about working at CLC but not totally sure.

DS was told GBR not an option due to the same fiscal year restrictions .

DS's friend branched MI has BOLC in Sept. is serving as a GBR this summer.
So all his dates fell within the current fiscal year.

For those of you wanting to switch BOLC dates DS was told it is very unlikely to happen unless it's due to an injury or extenuating circumstances . DS found a partner will to switch but was told no. DS also told of a friends of his that was slotted to go Armor BOLC in Jan but the orders were wrong and now he goes in June. Check and double check.

Yes, all of our AD cadets have a BOLC date. The USAR/ARNG cadets have not received theirs yet.

71E Clinical Laboratory Scientist? I haven't seen it from ROTC or a SA but it is possible if they have the right degree and possibly a certification like Medical Laboratory Science Certification as part of their degree completion. They would go to the Med Services BOLC and then on to a BOLC B training for Lab Officers. The Army has a very long training pipeline for these officers. Edit: Medical Technology Certification also likely meets the criteria.

More likely it is a typo and they meant Medical Service.
