any can't miss food locales near San Antonio

Here are two of my all time favorites:
Pizza- Back Unturned Brewing. Great Beer but unforgettable pizzas. Located on the river on Brooklyn Ave at the Lock and Dam.
Burgers: Tycoon Flats on Saint Mary's near 281
 
Hit Lorraine bakery today. The croissants are legend. Also hit southerlie and the snapper throat appetizer is memorable to say the least. So good. Great service and fantastic atmosphere and building. Headed to New Braunfels tomorrow.

In New Braunfels, it is not the original Llano, TX location but Cooper's has some of the best barbecue in TX as long as you make sure to order the "moist" not "lean" brisket. But last time we went it was still takeout only in April. And in TX brisket is what we are talking about primarily when we talk barbecue. Are you floating the Guad or Comal? I fish the Guadalupe near New Braunfels/Gruene every weekend 6 months of the year for trout (winter/Spring). Only an hour from my house in central Austin.

Ate at the gruene grist mill yesterday. Drove river road. Today going to cool off in the Guadalupe. My friends place is in comfort. Having fun so far.
 
Had a fantastic pomegranate margarita today. Floated parts of the Guadalupe yesterday 4 miles from my best friend’s house. Cold adult beverages and sunscreen were plentiful. Feeding the deer daily. Axis bucks have crazy racks. Have seen 3 armadillos and only chased one for a photo op. Have seen three new birds for my life list and the antique shopping here is amazing. All did a good job disguising me not being at parent weekend. Well done, me!!!!
