This is more of a curiosity to see where the admissions process is at but has anyone that was CPR with a nom received a TWE for 2023?

Has anyone given you a path to earning an Appointment without having a nom? Your BGO? Your admissions advisor? Is that even possible? Unless maybe you can still get a VP nom.

If you have not received a nom or a TWE it means you are still in the running for NAPS

Based on timing of prior years, at this point you’re more likely to get a TWE than an appointment. That said, there are still many folks who will get good news. It IS time to make sure you have other options in place and then wait for April 15.

While cold comfort, there are many, many terrific candidates who simply become a victim of the numbers game. Too many highly qualified candidates, fewer slots in the entering class due to lower attrition, and higher yield combine to make things difficult for many outstanding young men and women.

CPR with nom. My BGO said don't expect anything until the last week of March or first week of April. He said that it is rare to hit the April 15 deadline without hearing anything.

DS received a terrific merit scholarship in the mail today from our state U that can be applied to room and board. Combined with his NROTC scholarship, it’s a full 4-year ride in aerospace engineering, leading to a commission. Last night we had a tough heart to heart about his remaining USNA chances this year and he was kinda down. This put some bounce back in his step tonight and he’s talking about “the great opportunity” ahead of him. Maybe he’ll reapply and maybe he won’t. (He also did well wrestling in sectionals on Saturday but missed qualifying for state so he’s done with wrestling practice, which is 3 hours of brutal practicing every night and constantly making weight-gorging on tarimisu tonight is about as good as it can get). Having a really good plan B will take the sting out of the TWE if (when) it comes. I want him to enjoy his last semester in high school and DW is absolutely beside herself with the prospect of having him local. We have 3 graduating this May (MS, BS, and high school) - having all 3 leave the region in the same month was going to be really tough.

Enlisting is a terrific option. However, be sure it is for you. There are lots of threads on this forum about the pros/cons etc. Just search under "enlisting" or "enlistment" or even "enlist" and you should find them.

Curious why you would enlist, vs go to college and do ROTC? The latter you could ‘try out’ a bit of the military, try out college, and also ponder reapplying to SA.

Edit: Post was meant for @15navy_candidate

One of the biggest reasons is that I would much rather start my life on my own. I've always wanted to enlist, the academy was more of a recent thing. So I'm not crazy heartbroken that it didn't work out.

DD is Foundation and CPR w/2 Noms. Our understanding is that the Foundation student files are all presented to admissions in early April. I assume that means that there are roughly 50 slots "held" until that time. Not sure if NAPS is the same or not.

NAPs is similar. This years class is finalizing/updating their USNA apps in March, right before spring break. They won't actually receive appointments until late April/early May!

Honestly not sure. Current Plan B is to enlist.

Our DD is going to NAPS this summer .... What do you mean by "finalizing/updating their USNA apps in March"? Doesn't most of the Original application from the Prior year transfer over? I was under the impression that all the NAPSters had to work on was the Nominations (MOCs).
