I have noticed how much quieter the CGA forum has become over the last week or so-aside from some good April Fools fun. April 15th is definitely among the later dates that schools/colleges send out notice...maybe just because its a smaller program but tons of applicants? If anyone has even a whiff of info, feel free to post and give us waitin' folks something to put our minds at ease for a brief moment:wink: anyone think there will be a mass mailing next week?

you are not alone!

my son still hasn't heard anything either. Our spring break starts friday and our crew team goes to south carolina for the week - to train - hopefully that will keep him busy - know his boat will work hard -he's the stroke most of the time this year and they come back to a regatta that weekend. I too have noticed it quieter - assume that most others are in our holding pattern

throw a rave on reg row like our entire class (2012!) just did. that helps to pass the time pretty well.

:)

I saw April Fools, and because of that, I will tell three stories. The first was from my time at the Academy. The second was a trick I played on my shipmate on April Fools day, and the third was something someone did to me (although not in April).

1. Every now and then you will have "Urine Analysis" at the Academy, many times after a long weekend, to check for drugs, (this doesn't end at the Factory, you will have it at every unit you go to.) You find out because they put up sheets on the head doors saying "SSN ending in XX must report between XXX and XXX for urine analysis..." Well, everyone wakes up one day and sees the notice, doesn't go before breakfast because they wanted something left, and reported to the normal head that was used for the urine analysis, but when they got there....no one from the administration was there to collect the samples....that's when people realized it was April 1. That was a good trick, especially considering how people would force themselves to wait to go after breakfast.

2. On my ship my housemate and old roommate from the ship had eye surgery at Bethesda. Over the following weeks, he would tell me everything he was feeling and how it was out of focus sometimes and how his eyes would dry out, etc. Well, April 1 rolls around and I call from my cell phone to the ship's phone, claiming to be "Dr. Oglethorpe" from Bethesda. I told him I was checking up on his surgery and asked it anything was wrong. He said no. I then asked if he had been experiencing any dryness or if his vision was out of focus....and when he replied that it had in fact done that, I told him that we were concerned that some of the equipment used in his surgery had been contaminated and that we needed him to return to Bethesda asap for more tests. Well this did not make my friend very comfortable. He asked if he could call back because he needed to check on something...and that's when I told him who I was.....I had to run down to the armory and make sure he was ok....I could hear the GM1 laughing in the phone.

3. It was assignment time, and the clock was ticking down. I wasn't sure where I was going. The day we were supposed to get the notification, I got a call on the ship's phone, but it didn't go through. Later that day I got another call.

"LTJG LITS, I see you want Congressional Affairs?" LCDR Someone said.

"Oh yes sir." I responded.

"We gave that to an OCS grad. Are you ok with going OCONUS?" he said back to me.

"Uh, yes sir." I replied.

"You will be headed to the UK as the assistant liaison officer to British Parliament." He came back with.

Now, when it's assignment season, it's very hard to know when to call BS...so I had to pause for about 15-30 seconds before I called him out and figured out it was a fellow JO, the DCA on my ship.

I figured out it was the right call at 9:30 PM when the caller had a 202 (DC) area code.

yes its quiet.... but the rest of us are still here... i'm am traveling for work and checking when I can from my phone....

fingers still crossed for everyone.

Thanks for being there!

Thanks for the "not alone" reminders and some great laughs from LITS (and I too am glad you're back!)...Have a good one everybody!:thumb:

I am here too...waiting and praying with the rest of you to get the good news soon!!

Last year we focused on our back up plan and that gave us a little bit of peace during the waiting game. We ended up really enjoying the back up plan as it gave our boy an extra year at home (mom loved this, son....?). Now we are ready to kick him out...lol....and he is ready to start the journey.

So...read a good book, bake some cookies, hug your kids and of course, stalk the mailman. All good waiting game techniques.

thanks for hanging in and checking on us

Worked for two days and got blessed relief knowing nobody around to check the mailbox. ....then today, finally off and dun dun dun......walked to mailbox.....with the same as last week......no mail from USCGA......

I have truly stalked the mailman since November...

and wouldn't you know it, the day the skinny white envelope came, my son checked the mail. I'm glad the Lord ordained it that way. I didn't have to hand it to him.

He woke up today in an excellent mood and is quite focused already on what he has to do to be a successful KNOB.

Resilient kid.

I'm just so excited that there are so many who would desire to serve our great country that the Academy has to turn outstanding young men like my son away. Think about it... that is really a comfort, isn't it?

In every generation, there are those who try to tear down and those who build up. There is nothing new under the sun about that.

But, all of us here ~~ we have kids who are builders!

One of my friends who has 2 ne'er-do-well boys in their 20's would love for her sons' to be in my son's shoes, KWIM?

To all of you who are waiting, keep some dark chocolate and cokes ready just in case the skinny white does come. There is just something about chocolate and coca-cola that helps a body cope!

Have a great week everyone, and Happy Easter! He is RISEN.

MWBluebeard,

You have such a great attitude. Kudos! I love your quote and am also a believer that Christ will open and close doors where He wants our children to be. It is very hard though to keep our hands off and not worry and fret. I am just starting this journey with my son, but it feels like we've been into it for a long time. We have been talking USCGA since 7th grade. We are waiting on news about our AIM application and are going to apply EA. Your son sounds like a jewel and a very balanced young man. Keep your eyes on the ONE who loves you most and good luck to your son. -officer

Oh man....you guys need to be cut a break! I feel for you and continue to hope that you will hear soon. Either that or I pray for lots of overtime for you so that you are at least distracted! Being home and having too much time to think can make a momma crazy.

Have a good weekend, and as always, keep us posted!

No word here, again. Just think of it this way: we're all part of Luigi's countdown and don't even know it yet:shake::shake::shake:

Here's a little countdown for ya: 365 days (or so) until 2013 takes their 4/c indoctrination boards.

we had about a 60% pass rate last night. first retakes are tuesday. I expect there to only be a few that don't pass that round.

We returned from spring break - no mail here yet. I see from postings that all should know something in next week - my son was regular decision. Congrts to all that have heard!
