Like this year graduation ceremony format, without parents for social distancing. what about In-Processing Day (I-Day)?

Try to make a plan for In-Processing Day (I-Day), travel with DS or not due to Covid-19?

My son is a 2023 and they still have not been told when they are going back or anything about their summer programs either. I’m gonna guess that if parents are dropping their kids off this year it will be very different. I would guess it be just that, a drop off and not much more. Wondering how it’s all going to go down but one thing I’ve learned over this short time is everything is fluid even if there is already a date doesn’t mean everything. Also, hurry up and wait because decisions take a long time there.

The word "on the street" to ALO's...is that everything is still being planned and decided upon. It's up to the Sup't (and Jay is really good at this, and has a superb staff working for and advising him)...and as far as I know (and I'm not on his staff)...it's a "standby to standby..." kind of moment: very fluid.

Just keep preparing...and stay tuned.
(not the answer I know anyone wants)

I would say that since it is the primary job of USAFA to turn out 2nd Lieutenants, I-Day and BCT will be the top priority. Getting the class of 24' in the system is what keeps the entire process going.

Our DS is c/o 23 and patiently waiting to hear when he will return. All anyone knows based on previous communications is that it will not be before May 30. Otherwise, "standby to standby"

My '23 is waiting to hear from Gen. Silveria today (he's holding a meeting with cadets to talk about summer).

Congratulations @richard_miao ! Nice to see your DS 's decision!

I suspect most people if they had travel arrangements already in place are just waiting and keeping in mind the refund policies and risk. I have AirBnB reservations for both I Day and PW, with I Day deadline of June 7th as fully refundable. I have just under $1,000 of deposits and that is my full financial risk - if AirBnB goes under, I lose that much. The other risk is if the owners change to LT rental, or for whatever reason cancel, or if I have to cancel for new dates, then I am out the unit and may not get as optimal a place. We have a very strong preference for a home-like 1 week stay, so I went AirBnB over hotels. PW is very difficult to get places if you are picky. Others like you may be waiting just a bit longer for any guidance. I think you could make hotel reservations now (no prepay; full cancellation policy). It seemed accommodations for PW were more scarce, higher priced, and you have to decide whether to wait or book now. I actually booked PW first, and then I Day.
