Any LOAs Yet?

I have to say it's cruel and unusual punishment for my DS to check every day before and after school. So far, no change in his status.

It's easier said than done, but preparing to not hear anything until early spring is helpful. Some don't hear until later than that.

To say this is a long game is putting it mildly. And, if successful, and an appointment is received, it's just the beginning of waiting for various things while at any SA or in the military itself.

I received an email “You are assured of an appointment once you secure a nomination and satisfactorily complete any remaining admissions requirements.” This might be a dumb question, but would this he considered an LOA?
Letter of assurance. Yes.

Congratulations. LOA.

My DS got a letter that includes "A spot in the USAFA Class of 2027 will be reserved for you provided you meet all admission requirements to include a qualified medical status."

Also..."Once your file is complete and you have satisfactorily met all of the Admission requirements, I plan to recommend you to the Admissions Group which will make the final determination on an offer"

Is this a Letter of Assurance or a Letter of Encouragement?

People have referred to that as a letter of interest. What does he have left? Several people on here have received an LOA after this letter.

Just the DoDMERB is left for him. He has nomination and checkmarks on everything else. Why would they say "A spot in the USAFA Class of 2027 will be reserved for you" for a letter of interest?

That’s a LOI / LOE. Nomination not necessary mean approved appointment. LOA will say “you are assured an appointment.” But a good sign never the less.

From an ALO.

LOAs from USAFA are almost as rare as hen's teeth for "normal" candidates. USAFA, from my LONG experience as an ALO, doesn't give out anywhere near the LOAs that USNA/USMA do.

USAFA IS very free with LOAs for "blue chip athletes" though.

ALOs have gnashed their teeth about this for decades..we lose some really excellent candidates to the other SAs when they have LOA's, it's January, and they've heard nothing from USAFA and all their ALO can say is "approximately 80% +/- of appointments to USAFA are made in mid-March..."

And yes, admissions knows about this forum. We have admissions members in this forum. From time to time they will post here with important information for all to see.

Do they usually send out just one wave of LOAs or is it usually spread out a bit?
