Any more LOAs going out?

Yea, way more LOAs and way earlier. Bet the ranch on it, altho the only stats will never be known. So take it or leave it. Every aspect of admissions got substantially ramped up under Fowler. Loa's, PR, brochures and materials, personal visits (unheard of under Rempt and his predecessors), more non-USN admissions staff (for diversity), fund-raising (sort of, sorry Fowler), and on and on. It's like a different world, and a bunch of it not for the better. But LOAs were few and far between and always later than USMA and USAFA.

After listening to Admiral Miller speak twice and also having two personal chats with him, I would be shocked if anything in the admissions effort changes.

I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) this is b/c the directive comes from the CNO. Or higher.

It already has. How the data was reported to the public was significantly repackaged, not coincidentally. The fund-raising and how it was used has changed. The activities and where they are held are already changed. Adm. Miller was brought in to clean up the mess, not merely tweak the admissions process. He may have his orders, but you can be sure even the CNO is feeling the heat that Fowler's mishaps have brought to light about this among many pressure points. I believe it would be most naive, even in the Navy, that this is not going to swing back further. Too much heat and gross inequity that's being exposed.

No to both the "Ohio State" and the diversity theories. This area is very competitive for ARMY and NAVY, and I think that may be a factor in the recent bump (USMA takes about 20 from here and NAVY takes about 15 each year). At this time we have 7 LOAs on the books and several prospects for more before 12/31 (my opinion only).

Would improving from a 34 to a 36 on the math ACT prompt a re-look by admissions for a possible LOA, or would they just adjust the WCS?

Do it. Submit it. Find out.

No one here can tell you exactly what the criteria are that the NA uses to determine if they're going to issue a LOA.

Several months ago, Admiral Miller spoke to a large group of alumni in Alumni Hall. At the end of his presentation he was asked several questions. One was about the future of the Herndon tradition. It is pretty obvious, from his answer, that the tradition is going to be put back on track in the conventional sense. I think you can expect that the Class of 2014 is going to have to climb a very slippery obelisk.

He was also asked about "diversity." Here is his answer, verbatim:

My personal philosophy is that I do not pursue diversity for diversity's sake. [applause] I do believe that if we are appealing to the right people ... by law, we are geographically diverse ... but if we are able to properly portray ourselves - that will appeal to people of all genders and ... both genders, I'm sorry ... there's not that many [laughter] ... but, all ethnicities, all backgrounds. I firmly believe this, that ultimately, what that does, it gives us a diverse crowd in many different dimensions; which includes minorities. But my focus is on diversity as a broad cross-section of America. And I believe that diversity will help to lead the Navy. I mean, you think about this, leaders for three or maybe four more decades. Remarkable, remarkable gifts. So I'm focused on it. The admission process has talked to all the board of admissions to let them kind of know what the philosophy is. I think we'll continue to get quality candidates in all those various sub-categories. Most importantly, that they'll be great Americans who will serve us for a long time to come.

Believe it or not, this is 100% totally the policy under the previous Administration. We had better get used to it.

The final 'profile' usually comes out around the first of August. I don't think this year was any different.

The fund-raising and how it was used has changed. The activities and where they are held are already changed.
Fund raising discrepancies consisted of several individual infractions and nothing to correct but the major issue was an accounting interpretation from which the GAO differed with USNA and was already corrected before Adm Miller's change of command.

in the Navy, probably moreso than the other services, the Commander has complete authority, usually with very little interference. All do things differently. From the Midshipmen's perspective, anyone who tightens things down will be perceived as 'bad'. Others don't necessarily agree. Pure speculation on my part (which seems to be common here) but I would guess that the Commanding Officers out in the fleet have been very happy with the product of the past two years.

Mongo my man. You stand on a very distant place to view this than me. Guess we'll just have to let it go at that. But the profile we see for te 2014 class were no where to be seen on 01 Aug nor even 01 Sept. Only showed up in the last month. The tip of the iceberg, to be sure. And the idea that the Supe has "complete authority" over his Yardian ship, better known more recently as "the face of the Navy" for most of the civilized world ...that's a pretty interesting idea that would require more than your fine posts to persuade me holds any water. Again, we just need to agree to see this one substantially differently and allow the evidence to expose either you or me.

Folks, once again, let's either get back to the OP's question or take the issue Off Topic or to PMs.
