any other fellow NAPSters?

ZAP I understand what you're saying. I'm simply saying that if I don't get into USAFA/AFAPS, i'm sure that reapplying to the USAFA with NAPS on the application is better than applying with a civilian institution.

Like I said, yes my ultimate goal is to be an F-22 Pilot in the USAF... the way I achieve it is irrelevant. I like the metaphorical expressions you said about the free educatoin then going off somewhere else, but if you think about it, i'd still be using the same government money if i got into USAFA/Prep School regardless.

I also understand that other kids would kill to get into NAPS and that i'm simply using it as a back-up. Life is about options and keeping opportunities open. That's all i'm doing.

Zap I can understand how you mixed us up, flyers flyter, 5 similar letter in similar locations.

So i've heard many thigns about the entrance fee. How do the midshipman pay for it? and does it affect the monthly pay the MIDs get? and can parents pay it off?

First of all, it is dissappointing how you would even think about reapplying to USAFA with NAPS on the app. The whole mission of NAPS is to prepare those for accession to USNA, don't believe me, check the mission statement yourself.

Your statement here is quite immature and selfish. There are thousands out there who would kill to be at NAPS to become first and foremost, a Naval officer. It sounds as though you are aiming just to become a pilot when you should be focusing on becoming an officer first, then pilot. But what if you don't get pilot?

I echo my last comment. If you're trying to keep your options open, why don't you consider going into the Navy to become an aviator?

I am going to agree completely with pknguyen44 on this one. Zap too.

Dont' be so sure that going to NAPS for a year is the best preparation to reappy to the AFA. You will be immersed in Navy culture for a year. Everything you learn will be Navy. You will be spending Navy's money (not just gov't money) and they will be teaching and grooming you to be a successful Navy plebe not a successful AF 4 deg.

Getting a Nomination:
You will get a service connected nomination by virture of your presence at NAPS BUT it can only be used at USNA. You can't use it at USAFA.
I don't know how competitive your congressional district is or your state but your congressman may wonder why you want an AFA nomination if you are at NAPS. You probably won't be a strong enough candidate for a senator nomination.

Let me suggest another alternative -
Apply to a service academy program at a military junior college - such as MMI.
www.marionmilitary.edu
If you meet the criteria they will accept you into the program even if you aren't sponsored by an academy. Even those cadets without academy sponsorship have a pretty good record of academy acceptance. One cadet last year applied to AFA, USNA and USMA and got into all three.
You can take AFROTC there and also qualify for a ROTC nomination.

So back to the original thread...

Any fellow Napsters out there?? Class of 2010??

lol back to the original thread...

Yes, I'm talking about other future NAPSters for class of 2010. :yllol:

Well, hope you don't come here with the same mentality you have now, it would be a waste of time and money for everyone else.

However, I hope to attain the position of Air Force Academy Wing Commander:rolleyes:
