Good afternoon all! As the title states, are there any rumors or emails about applications being reviewed in the next two weeks, etc.? I remember reading all of the “nervous parent threads” last year and never realized how tough this “waiting game” would be.

Last year, proudmom shared a helpful timeline of previous appointments on another thread:

Class of 2028: (from the “history of this thread”) First appointments/conditional appointments on 21 Nov
• Class of 2027: First appointments/conditional appointments on 23 Nov
• Class of 2026: First appointments/conditional appointments on 14 Nov
• Class of 2025: First appointments/conditional appointments on 10 Nov
• Class of 2024: First appointments/conditional appointments on 10 Dec

My DS hasn’t received any correspondence regarding his application being reviewed, ready for review, etc.—just a check mark showing the application is complete and to do his physical from the Civ team

A few LOA's have been sent out, but that's all I know. That indicates that at least a few applications have been reviewed.
Good luck

~ < 40 LOAs mailed out on late Sep and look forward to hearing the first appointments before Thanksgiving :)

Hello!

As appointments start rolling out, will decisions only be uploaded to the application portal? I have heard of admissions officers calling candidates in some situations previously, but was unsure if that is normal that they reach out via phone call when early action applicants are given appointments.

It's pretty common for a phone call to happen from either a coach or an AO. Be sure to answer even if you don't recognize the number! Also, coaches can be sneaky and text to set up a call just like throughout the recruiting process, and then spill the good news!

Mind you, calls may not happen every single time, but good chance a call will happen before decision hits the portal.

He likely won't get any sort of play by play as the process plays out. Also, that checklist in the portal is notorious for not updating in a timely manner (or at all), so don't get hung up on worrying about that. None of the boxes checked on my daughter's until after she received her appointment!

The last couple years EA appointments began rolling out thanksgiving week. Talk was they may start sooner this year, but it remains to be seen!

Good luck and hang in there!

The coach that recruited my son called him to let him know last year. It uploaded to his portal a few days later.

My DD’s coach emailed her this past Friday. The coach wants to know to see if there anything she can tell the Committee on my daughter’s behalf. The process must be kicking off this week if not already.

This is a good time to remind all those who already submitted their applications that they absolutely should be keeping their AO updated of any significant updates/additions to their application. Did they improve their SAT/ACT scores? Did they take on a new leadership position/activity that wasn't on their application? For those in schools with quarters, did they get 1st quarter grades back? Did they improve their PFE? For those playing a fall sport, how did the season turn out? For those in winter sports, were they selected captain of their team? Have they had any other significant achievements or developments in any area?

The AO can definitely add to your application, so keep the AO and possibly the coach informed of anything that might strengthen your application.

Thank you for the insight. Son took the November SAT test and I was curious if we should even submit (pending improvement on the test) till we know the status of his EA application. I read what was stated on the CGA website regarding submission of documents and the timeline. Thank you

@Flint41 - If he took the Nov. 2 SAT, he should receive his scores on Nov. 15. If he used the score reports that are sent directly to colleges, they should receive the scores by Nov. 25, 2024.

That being said, if he gets his new scores on Nov. 15 and they're even slightly improved, send them to the AO (and coach if applicable) right away!! They're working on EA applications all the way until Christmas, so there's plenty of time there to potentially move the needle.

You may not know anything about the status of his EA application until Dec 23, so no use in waiting around for that!

In the past, is there specific days of the week (and/or times) admissions typically releases decisions? Or does it typically vary?

I believe the appointments go out in batches to the portal on Fridays. In recent years at least, it has started Thanksgiving week. A coach or AO may call with an appointment offer during the week, then the portal will update on Friday with an offer letter.

This may not be an absolute, and things are always subject to change, but fair chance it'll go down like that.

If I recall my 2027 got her call from the coach Monday or Tuesday of Thanksgiving week, then received conditional appt letter pending DoDMerb the Friday after Thanksgiving.

Coach has been great with communicating every step of the way. He says we will get the appointment around Thanksgiving or shortly after. Sounds great so we are just sitting back and relaxing.
