Any rumors on Cadet BRANCHING timeframe?

My son was told the same thing by his Cadre yesterday, Nov. 18th.

My son just forwarded the message he received regarding branch results.

The actual wording from Cadet Command was "No earlier then Nov. 18th"

I guess we can all assume what that means. It may well be after Thanksgiving.

Doesn't surprise me a bit, after watching 7 years of ROTC with two sons nothing ever came out on the date first scheduled. Don't get your heart set on that date either, it would not be surprising if it pushed back a second time.

The problem is that when CC says they're done and send the results to the CoS, that does not mean it is for just a simple signature. The CoS reviews the results, his people compare it to what they want, this does not take just overnight. Adjustments are asked for and the whole thing is sent back to CC, they make the adjustments and send it back to the CoS's office. These things take time and are probably not on the top of the CoS's office priority list.

Be happy if you hear before Thanksgiving Break.

We got the same information.

It really depends on the weather and if they are doing this outside. If it's windy then the darts they throw at the very large dartboard might drift a little one way or the other, this could mean more or less AD depending on which way the wind is blowing. Of course it will depend on whether they do this on "Blindfold Friday", the darts just fly all over the place on that day.

Best of luck everyone.

Our SMI pushed out the same "no earlier then Nov. 18th." He did add that they have to brief the CSA on the results (which we already knew), but that as of now that brief is scheduled for the morning of the 18th, so if approved we could see results pushed out soon after that. That's what he got through our brigade from USACC.

That is of course if there are no changes requested.

Guess I'll fire up the list of inspirational quotes and recycle other nonsense posts from the January 2011 scholarship boards to get us thro until probably Christmas break when they'll release the branching for this class:rolleyes: It was just waaaayyy toooo good to be true that the 13th would have come true!

Glad I'm busy at work so there are at least a few hours a day I'm not thinking about this - DS is crazy busy at school so hopefully he's not going nuts either!:thumb:

Shelling chestnuts before they've cooled down from the oven is one way to take your mind off other things.

Weren't you supposed to roast those on an open fire? My man Jeeves always roasts them on an open fire.

Thanks guys - got home from a very long day at work to see the "inspirational" quotes started:biggrin:

DS and DH are together this weekend for Dad's Weekend at the university. Hoping to get more info(if its available).

Oh, and yes, I do believe chestnuts are roasted over an open fire:cool:

and I'll try and round up some good ole quotes - but I refuse to clean my house as throughly as I did back in 2011. See, I've grown patience now that he's an MSIV:wink:

Ohio - I wish I had your optimism about having grown some patience! Will look forward to any updates you may have after the Father/Son University Weekend...

In the meantime, I sure love the quotes and the funny links! Thank you - it does make it the community it was when we were here almost four years ago (where did that time go??).

I spoke to my son over the weekend, his understanding on AD/Branching date release is, pm 18th Nov or am 19th Nov. Once the C of S has been briefed, and agrees how lucky he is to have such a splendid bunch of guys and gals awaiting commissioning, BG Combs will then release the news to her PMS’s.

Ohio. I have reviewed the posting on the March 2011 Board, all 166 pages, 1661 postings and 188,000 views, whew we were busy.

Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.

DS has confirmed the same thing to my DH. DS is hoping for 19th but knows even that will probably be delayed. The cadets are all hoping that they needed more AD since ISIS doesn't seem to be going away anytime soon.

Yes, the Jan. and Mar. 2011 boards were very, very long and busy. But it was a great support during that very first experience with momma Army and CC.

Fake it until you make it.

Grow where you are planted.

I really feel for all the cadets and parents out there. One year ago it was my DS that was waiting to hear about his future. Tomorrow he leaves for his first duty station and the start of his career having finished BOLC 10 days ago. I hope the best for everyone waiting to hear and thanks for your service.

Latest rumor is first week of December. Ugh! I think I'm more anxious to hear than DS, though.

I've heard this rumor floating around as well. At this point, I'm just anticipating not hearing back until January. It's just unfortunate for the cadets who are commissioning in December who still don't have a branch yet.
