Any Suggestions.....

While living in CT, we enjoyed the occasional shopping trip to LLBean home store in Freeport Maine. Lots to see and do along the way (and just another a few hours up the road from Boston).

We also enjoyed the Normal Rockwell musuem in western Mass. Vermont is also great for cheese, maple, Ben & Jerry's, Shelburne museum, etc.

It's easy to get on the train to NYC at New Haven if you are staying in the New London area with a car and want a fun day trip.

Just a NYC bias, that's all. My brother had the highest math SAT score of any football player who ever matriculated at Northeastern. He loved Boston.

We went to the USS Nautilus across the river from USCGA; Norwich University (Northfield Village, VT) with son #2; then went to Bar Harbor, ME.....took both sons to Boothbay Harbor, ME (went kayaking) after AIM -- lots to do!

Coming up from Virginia to drop off DS for AIM Session 3. Plan on doing the New England tour as well. My question is for the day or two we plan to stay in the New London area, where is a good place? Navy Lodge is booked (go figure). When I Googled hotels and New London, I got a lot of bad reviewed hotels. Groton is better. How about Mystic? OBTW, DS has 4 younger brothers, so we need 2 rooms and don't want to break the bank. Thanks for any and all advice.

Thank you. I found another thread with this information as well. Will do a better job of homework next time!

Remember that Sailfest is July 9-11, and New London will be PACKED as this event draws over 300,000 people!. Plan on spending some of your time in New London - lots of good music, food and fun.

The fireworks are on Saturday 7/9 at the waterfront This is one of the largest fireworks displays on the East Coast (the Zambelli's of New York produce it) and it is AWESOME!
