I'm curious about the source as well...I'm a BGO as well, been to Initial Training and Refresher Training several times, but to my recollection, specific point values on the WCS were never discussed. In fact, as far as I know , neither has the maximum number of points available on the WCS (if that is even a thing) been disclosed publicly. Without the context of knowing how many points are giving for other leadership programs , or the maximum points available, a statement that Boys State counts for 500 points really doesn't mean much.
I don't think there is any doubt that Boys State is given weight, and some have said that it is as much as Eagle Scout. However, I believe that information comes from a (very dated now) RAND analysis of West Point's WCS.
If I'm missing something that is beyond what is given in routine BGO training, please share.... Thanks.
