Any tips for admissions visit?

In terms of meals, I suggest you eat right on base at the deli in the middle of campus. I forget the name, but others will offer it. There is also a daily lunch buffet in the officers club building, which is more expensive, but good. The deli is quite decent, and very reasonably priced. Better though, its in a neat building and lots of people coming and going, which is a good thing when you are visiting. There are a lot of cool places to eat in town, but you are visiting the academy to get a feel for the place. The places on base are good quality and do give you a feel for the environment. My kid goes to West Point, and I wish we had that deli there.
I always wonder had USNA sent brovol's son his appointment sooner and not days before he reports to WP, what would his and our lives be like today? We know they would love Annapolis as much as we do, and he won't have to be on the opposite side from @Sydney C. and me.

Guess we will never find out.

Unless son of @brovol comes to USNA on an exchange semester, and he decides to pursue cross-commissioning!! As a USNA sponsor daughter of ours did, in reverse...she will be happy as an Army officer, and I will be happy for her, if she gets it.

Now that's an idea! What say you, @brovol?

My son would love that I'm sure, but he would need to be towards the top of his class, and he isn't near there now. I am pretty sure he would have landed at WP regardless. It was his original goal. I encouraged him to apply to other academies, and he certainly would have taken an appointment to any of them, and saw a lot of pros and cons with each service. We both really liked the Marine and other options that he would have had at USNA. I have asked him repeatedly if he ever thinks about if he picked either USNA or USAFA, and he insists he doesn't, and I know he loves West Point. Honestly, I think he would have though hard about USNA if he got the offer of appointment at same time he got USMA and USAFA, but by the time he got the call there was no way; he was full USMA all the way. And of course starting on R-day they begin to teach them to hate the goat. Lol.

We really enjoyed our visits to USNA. It's a tremendous academy, and I would have been very delighted if he landed there too, but he loves WP, and so do we. And he is looking forward to serving in the army. Lots of branch options he really likes.

You guys are a good bunch though, so I will continue to post here and and say; Go Army!! Beat Navy!!

.... Plus, army has never lost to navy in football since my son got there. Lol
Best of luck to your son at WP. I have no doubt he would be successful anywhere he landed. Oh, and what do they say about hitting a reset in order to make room for a bigger record? Go Navy! BEAT ARMY!!!

Lol. They also say you are only as good as your last game.

I believe the deli that you are referring to is called "Dry dock."

It is. Thanks. At West Point they have something similar, at Grant Hall. The Drydock is more open though.
