Anybody get a Air Force ROTC scholarship...

Oh, ok. My daughter received the 12,000 (total) Embry Riddle Scholarship but it won't be nearly enough. She has applied for some civilian scholarships, but since she wants to be an officer in the AF no matter what, an AFROTC scholarship would be a nice bonus.

Sounds familiar ...

My son was not selected for a scholarship for the first boards but it said that he ranked highly and therefore was being looked at in the 2nd boards....so, we'll see...fingers crossed.
Excellent info BlueSkies...thanks!
BTW - I think EVERYBODY who went in front of the board and was not selected received the same message:
"Your application met the board and you were not selected for a scholarship. However, based on your rank on the board, your application will be meeting the next board."
Good Luck!

Interesting, I heard from Maxwell that it was a good message to receive because many were dropped after the first board...I can't be 100% but that was the indication I received.

You may be correct, however I haven't heard about anybody that was "dropped" or denied. I think AFROTC just continues to consider you for each successive board until they run out of scholarships. Of course I could be mistaken, but that is how I understand the system to work.

OK, so we wait. Wonder if they change the message if that happens for the third board...?

Basic questions

Hi folks, I can probably find this information if I dug through enough posts, but perhaps someone could kindly tell me when and how: My son had his AFROTC interview on Jan 4, a week later the application tracker said they had received his interview and he'd be reviewed by the next board. That status hasn't changed since. I read in this thread (I think)that he might hear something on or soon after Feb 12. He did update his resume last week indicating acceptance to Uni of Colorado. So, perhaps he'll hear something around the 12th?

More info...

I spoke to Maxwell AFB today. They hinted that we ought to check our online on Friday, Feb 5th...I think they will be released starting then.

So looks like friday is the day to find out...

Just curious if anyone has heard anything today? I am trying really hard to wait until next Friday the 12th.

OK...I spoke to Maxwell AFB again today. Now they are saying that they are not sure if it will be updated today or sometime next week BUT if you got a scholarship in this second board the recruiters will be calling you on Monday, Feb 8th...so ...I think they know who has them now but are not just yet releasing the info...

Thanks Blueskies!

It helps alot to know when you might get good news, now maybe everyone will enjoy their weekend without being glued to the computer. The waiting is the worst part! Good luck to everyone still waiting!

FYI- First round, my son received an AFROTC Type 1 (any school) and did NOT receive a phone call from anyone. Don't wait by the phone

I think it is safe to say the accuracy of information coming from who ever you have been speaking with at Maxwell leaves something to be desired. The AFROTC letter from the last board said results would be released by the 12th. Perhaps we'll find out sooner but I'm not confident anyone answering the phone at Maxwell has much more of a clue than the rest of us.

You may be right but this person is the main contact listed for any questions regarding AFROTC scholarships for my alphabet. Anyway, we'll all know the results of the 2nd board by Friday, Feb 12th latest. Again, remember, very tough, 1500 at this board and only 35% scholarships or about 500 (1% are type 1, 6% are type 2, and 28% are type 7).

Thanks for the statistics! Like you said, if we don't find out on the 8th, the 12th is only 4 days away. It sure would be nice to get a call on Monday though
