Hello everyone,
I was invited to the CVW from Nov. 12-14. However, both my congressman and senators do their interviews on the Saturday that it falls on. I was really excited to go, but now it looks like I need to pull out of my CVW. Has anyone else had that same sort of conflict?
Thanks!

I am sure if you call the Academy and explain thet the CVW date can be changed.

Just contact them and ask for a new CVW date; it's not a big deal...happens every year.

You can easily reschedule your CVW date, so don't sweat it.
I had my CVW pushed back three times!

Go to the nomination interview, change the CVW. The CVW is pointless without a nomination.

My son had the same conflict. He was offered either the 22-24 October or the 12-14 November. The first one he has sectionals for soccer (play offs for state), the second are both of his senator nominations interviews. He's also taking Organic Chemistry at a local college and wasn't sure he could afford to miss a class (Fri) at this point. He contacted his RD and BGO as soon as he got the invite and told them he was really interested, why he couldn't make the dates, and asked to be considered whenever the next CVW's were offered. When I start hearing about any other dates on these boards, I'll definitely have him make contact with them again!

My daughter was offered both dates also. The first date she had scheduled for the ACT (to try to bump up her Math score), the 2nd date was her Congressional Review Board. She wanted to attend so we paid $20 to change the ACT test to December. Fortunately, her tennis season will end before then.

My son was invited to attend the Oct. or Nov. Candidate Visit Weekends. He also has the ACT (Oct.) and Nom. Interviews (Nov.) as conflicts, so he emailed his Regional Director (as recommended in the last paragraph of the letter). He expressed his desire to attend a CVW, explained his conflicts for Oct. and Nov. and requested consideration for a future weekend. He received a response that the next two weekends are Jan. 21st - 23rd, or Feb. 25th - 27th and he was welcome to sign-up for his preference. He went ahead and picked the January weekend - which will give him a realistic idea of the weather there in winter ... we live in sunny Atlanta - and then he received an email back saying that he is now "signed-up". I think I understand from a post I read somewhere that he should now expect to receive another letter with specific instructions for the weekend.
By the way, he also inquired about whether or not there was a cost to attend a CVW. He was told that there is no fee to attend a CVW, but that you do have to cover your own travel costs to get there.

FaithfulMom - thanks for those dates. The January one would work great for my son since he'd be off his college classes at that time. (Although I do think it's finals time at the HS - oh well, he missed finals in June for NASS, might as well miss them again!). Although coming from Green Bay, he'd probably find the weather warm and sunny by his standards! I will have him contact his RD and see about the possibility for that date!

marciemi - You're welcome.

The whole application process has been made a lot easier to understand because of all the useful tips and information found on these forums. We live and learn from each other and those who've gone through it all before us!

Thank you for all the responses and advice! I sent a request for a later date to my regional director and hopefully will hear back soon.
