Anyone from NJ?

This is starting to get annoying, lol almost every state has heard from everyone and we actually have to wait till January till hear... Oh I'm from Rahway, 13th District in case i have to go against someone for Congressman Payne

I've raced my bike at rahway river park before! Do you know geraldo rivera? I beleive we should hear from the senators this week! My congressman doesnt tell me untill the very last moment, why? I have no idea but i hate it. My MOC is congressman pallone, anyone else out there from his district? Im from West Long Branch, its exit 105 on the parkway.

That is a much more complicated question than you realize! There are many reasons a MOC holds the slate until the last moment. Not all do this, but many do. It has to do with trying to maximize appointments for the district and benefit of candidates. Below are just 3 examples of reasons but there are many many other reasons that can come into play.

a) Give their candidates the best chance to get multiple noms, even in states that "coordinate". More noms give the SA more options. If one of the nominees is in the running for a Senator nom they may hold it thus forcing the other MOCs slate (maybe the other MOC is holding back too...). If the candidate gets the other nom then the MOC submits the slate knowing the student got a double. In states that coordinate, this "trick" is typically done when the Rep & Senator office are not expected to work together often or well. If the MOC doesn't have more than one slate full of good candidates, the MOC may be holding the slate. If the MOC has more than one slate worth of very good candidates they are more likely to hold the slate & bump someone if they get a Senator nom (see below).

b) Give the MOC a chance to get more kids from their district a nom (if a Senator gives a nom, the Rep may elect not to so that an 11th person from the district can get a nom - If they have more highly competitive candidates than they have slots on the slate they may hold it if they believe one or more of their candidates may get a Senator nom. If one gets the Senator nom, the Rep may drop that candidate off their slate & replace it with one of the others thereby giving an 11th person from their district a chance.

c) If the MOC has one or more LOAs on the list they may wait to see if the Senator gives them a nom because then they can drop them off, knowing they will still get an appointment, and back fill other candidates.

These are just a few of many factors that come into play in the nomination process.

Jerzgirl, I sent you a message asking you where you were from before I read this LOL. I am from the real southern nj, haha jk, exit 17 off the parkway, congressman is lobiondo. Haven't heard yet, just waiting. Jerzmom, usafa Is my 1st pick usma then usna, so I didn't recieve or request a cvw

Are you sure you are still in Jersey at that pt:shake:

Thanks, flyersboy. That is my favorite part of Jersey. We have spent many summer vacations in Sea Isle! Good luck to you.

Haha! yeah, about 30 miles from me you are in the delaware bay :D

jerzgirl, GET OUT! My dad grew up in Sea Isle! We live 5 min from Sea isle, and my grandmother still lives there. I worked in sea isle this year.

I've stayed on the bay side 40-something Street, and then for several years on 90th right before Townsend's Inlet. My brother in law owned a place on 86th near the beach and then on the point in Townsend's Inlet. My dream is to have a house there too! Is your BGO Dave D.?

This waiting is killing me, i thought we would have heard by now. Any input?

James and I believe we shall hear after the inauguration(today) so hopefully late this week, or early next week.

I've done some searches and Senator Menendez has reported his nominees in the Congressional Record that dates around the 24th of January. They do have until the end of the month though to get their nominees to the Academy

does that mean we will know the 24th, or slightly after?

Can't say. I think I can safely say that we will know by the end of next week. "The waiting is the hardest part."

Out of curiosity how many of you from NJ are waiting for this to be their 1st nom?

I think everyone from NJ is waiting for the
Senator nomination. I think some of the Congressmen may have sent out their selections.

I'm posting from school, but yeah I believe since Obama's Inauguration is over we should be receiving letters by Saturday. Give or take 1 mail day.
