Anyone have NROTC Marine Corps results back yet?

My son's application page has changed slightly, it says this:

Your application is at the Marine Corps District for Board Selection.
Items waiting to be processed: Statement of Understanding

Recieved word of my NROTC Marine Option scholarship last night from USMC Capt. Much earlier than expected.

Kemp- I am in Denver, CO (CO-6). The wait is the worst part I agree. Just stay focused on the end result! It'll be worth it. Good luck bro keep me updated

My personal experience in the Military has always been...hurry up and wait

My son has applied to the USNA but was DQ'd for a color vision problem, waiting on a waiver so same thing with NROTC. He's triple Q'd for the USMA and received a full AROTC scholarship to The Citadel. He has a Nomination interview tomorrow (Sat) with our Congressman.

We're in Florida still waiting for Parris Island to announce something. The Captain promised my son
he'd be the first one to be called once he knows

Remember, this is still the early boards and you have another round later this spring.

I've been following the thread here for some time--still waiting on the NROTC Marine Option, but have AROTC 4 year already. I know there are very few slots for the Marine Option----I have heard the next, and only board for the Marine Option, is in February. Does anyone know if they give out more scholarships at the second board or how many they give out nationwide? Also, I heard the first board is a regional board and the second board is a national board-does anyonw know the difference?

Thanks

My son found out he was selected for a four year NROTC-Marine Option scholarship on 24 November.

what state or district are you from that your son heard so fast?

My son found out he was selected for a four year NROTC-Marine Option scholarship on 24 November.

I specifically asked about the board giving out info before Thanksgiving and was told the National results had not been given out yet as the board only sat the week before. The week before Christmas was the slated time frame for offers. I'm sure there are ways to get this information but our Captain was pretty definite on this, he even said he sent my e mail to his boss to see if it was true that results were being given out before Thanksgiving and before the web site notifications. Maybe this could be part of your NROTC results? They were given out before Thanksgiving.

Who knows, maybe your officer recruiter has a friend inside the board and you received really early notice.

It is a National Board held in Parris Island two times a year, November and February. I was told there are about 600 annual Scholarships given out.

As per this post over a week ago, I asked the Captain (behind my sons image, in the desert digi's next to the parent in the red Marines sweatshirt this exact question. He's still saying that the results are not out yet as of yesterday.

Spoke with Captain M. today at the event, no word yet for NROTC Marine Corps option scholarships. Here we are at the event, btw, my son is the kid in Blue that took 5th place in the run with the Captain in the background watching his poolies.

Thanks for the info--I'm sure the recruiters get sick of everyone asking them when the results will be out. On the other hand, I guess that's their job. Well, all we can do is wait and see what happens. Thanks, and I'm sure you'll post if you hear something.

I wonder how many scholarships go in the first board as opposed to the second board?

It was listed on my son's scholarship application status page on 24 November that he had been selected for a 4-yr Marine Option scholarship. We received a call from the recruiter on 3 December to come out and present the scholarship. I can't answer why you were told the offers would not be made prior to Christmas. We were told to expect the results end of November/early December, and in our case it was true. We are in Virginia...maybe that makes a difference. I doubt a Marine would release official board results without the appropriate authority of being able to do so, and therefore highly doubt our son received "really early notice" because his "recruiter has a friend inside the board" who leaked information.

I didn't mean to suggest you had inside information, I was only trying to explain our situation. Our Captain called this morning and said that there was ~still no information, maybe my son didn't get the offer this time and that's OK. He has a plan B and plan C.

We were told we would hear something "before or around Christmas break"-It does seem odd some have been notified and some haven't. You would think the ones who didn't get the scholarship would have been notified they didn't receive it as well. I had heard the first board was a regional board, which may explain the different notification dates, and the second board is a national board. I really don't know---it all seems somewhat secretive about the whole selection process, but I'm not complaining. We'll just wait and hopefully we'll hear something and if not wait until the next board.

Thanks and congratulations to the scholarship winners
