Anyone hear for AROTC?

If WP comes through there is a school of thought that says you should hang on to one ROTC offer until you report to the Academy, even including sending in the deposit to the school. This is insurance against an injury which prevents DS from reporting while with more recovery time he will still be able to participate in ROTC. The school deposit is the insurance payment. Not saying you should do this, just presenting the option.

What is the other school of thought? DS is also waiting for WP (or USMAPS) to finalize their plans, so we can move forward with Plan B if necessary(edit).

We've been observing for months, and appreciate all the sage advice (and suspense as this entire process winds down). I'm sure we'll continue to monitor this site as we progress throught the next five years of his U.S. Army "schooling".

If you are feeling anxious and not seeing anything it's cause you aren't checking often enough...I hear Cadet Command has a way of measuring how many times you check your status, and the one who checks most often gets the first offer:)
... I feel like this is a stupid question; but ... that was a joke ... right?

The other school of thought is that once you've made a decision to attend an academy you are under a moral obligation to release the NROTC scholarship so someone else can use it. However, there is no proof this happens and many suspect ROTC overbooks, knowing some scholarships will be declined. The subscribers to this school of thought are often parents whose children did not get a ROTC scholarship.

My own thoughts are, you earned, you decide. :zip:

Is it true that there are no changes to the Status webpages during Non-Standard Office hours at Ft Knox? Like, say 9 pm or Saturdays?

Just got off the phone with Cadet Command because DS had a problem with his portal. Was told DS was in great shape and that was the end of it. No more info. However, she did say Friday would be the earliest anything would be released, if it would be Friday. Monday everyone will be notified via portal on first school. If there are multiple offers they will be expressed in the letter that will show up a few days later in the mail.

So pretty much hang tight until Friday

Address

Quick question- if I change my address tonight on the application, will Cadet Command notice in time for the letter, if any, to be sent to the new address? I live in Africa and it will take 3 weeks in the diplomatic pouch to get here otherwise.

Don't know the answer, but I do have a question. Do you have anything to lose by changing it? Do you want all your follow-up mail, if you do get a scholarship, to take 3 weeks to get to you?

Questions

So I was told by the AI at the school I interviewed at, that the medical exam wasn't required until you were selected. Thus, I haven't submitted one. I was also told everything was in order, and the packet would be submitted to the board. This leads me to my questions.

Currently, the status check says medical is Not Received, I notice in earlier posts that this has changed for people who, like me, haven't submitted anything. Should I be worried about that?

Second: In the time between when my packet would have been submitted, and when the board met I earned my Eagle Scout Award. Is it worth changing that on the application?

Third: Is the talk about friday posting official?

Finally: Will results be posted on a website? Or is it strictly mail notification?

Thanks

There are some candidates, in your position who never had medicals done, have their status change to received. Absolutely, work in your Eagle Scout. It is one of the highest point earnrs for leadership. Finally, friday is the day decisions are going out. Whether its friday close of business or first thing monday morning thats yet to be determined.

Changed the application.

If you have already been boarded, you can't change or update your application with the exception of SAT or ACT scores.

If you were offered a scholarship, you will be able to see that online when CC inputs it but the real information/offer will come via mail.

We live in a world of instant everything... everything but the military...

I agree with cjs, it is too late to update your application with your Eagle. The only items you can update are your SAT/ACT scores, you can also update or change your school selections if you are rolled over to the next board.

The notification of a scholarship will be posted on your Status Page.
