Just curious if there is anyone still waiting to hear from USNA? Seems like there are lots of appointment recorded (70+) DS is 3Q with 2 noms and application completed since the end of August. STILL waiting. Plan B set with NROTC and AFROTC scholorships but waiting to hear on plan A. Starting to lose faith. Gone from being disappointed there is no BFE in the mailbox to relieved there is no TWE either so the dream can live on for my DS yet another day....

Trust me. Many are still waiting to hear. The majority of appointments should be made this month.

We are in the same boat, anxiously waiting. I suspect many others fall in this category. My DS finished his USNA packet in Aug and received a Senator (Texas) nomination in Nov. We live in TX-26, which does not duplicate nominations. No other status updates.

In the meantime he received a 4-year Marine Corps ROTC Scholarship to Rice and a full academic scholarship.

Im still waiting too...triple q'd with CT senators nom...finished since October. Im guessing most people hear back in March...good luck to all!

Still waiting as well. Last year I did not find out until like April 10 I think.

I strongly suspect that about half of USNA 2016 still are awaiting their BFE's. There still is a bit more than a month to April 15 which has become the date that USNA advises all candidates still in contention of their status. Best wishes to all of you.

DS 3q'd, 2 noms, appointment to USMA, but anxiously awaiting 1st choice of USNA. That's a lot of offers according to the article.

I'm still waiting too, USMA sent me a TWE just this week because my district was so competitive this year :/ I had to make the choice back in January to either stick with and risk not getting into the academies or choosing a Marine ROTC scholarship; I chose the academies. Hope it pays off! USNA is my only
hope at this point.

Are you saying that you turned down an ROTC scholarship in order to get into the academies? You don't have to turn down a scholarship offer in order to receive an appointment...

No, the Marines forced me to choose. I know the academies don't care if I have a back up plan, they actually encourage it. The Marines would not give me the scholarship unless I was 100% committed to going the ROTC route, even if I received an appointment. It was a terrible ultimatum.

There is has to be a gross misunderstanding in what you describe. It is extremely common for a service academy applicant to pursue an ROTC scholarship. It happens all the time!

Believe me, if you turn down the ROTC scholarship because you subsequently receive and academy appointment, they will have NO PROBLEM finding another qualified applicant to fill that spot. ROTC scholarships are very competitive.

The two programs do not even talk to one another. In other words, the academies are unaware of your application for an ROTC scholarship and the ROTC folks are unaware of your academy application - unless you tell them.

Whoever told you that, lied.

There is a little checkbox on the application to mark if you're applying to service academies and other ROTC programs. My recruiters didn't seem to care that I applied to USNA and USMA, and they never brought it up. I still got a scholarship.

Holy cow, "The academy has offered admission to 1,021 students" that's something not consistant at all with what I've been hearing. So if "the incoming class is expected to be at 1,190," then the academy will probably offer like 100 more than that?

I thought most of the appointments went out in March?

USNA expects a few hundred to decline the offer, so they will offer more appointments than there are spots in the class, usually somewhere around 1400-1500.

Not all of those 1021 are goig to accept their appointments.

I wonder how many have been offered appts to other academies but are waiting for USAFA to roll out their offerings, or one of the others. I know of several that have appt to USNA, USCGA, USMA, or USMMA, but haven't accepted because they're waiting for their first choice from one of the others. If they decline, it may mean as many as 50? Potential mids slots?
