Anyones kids join the Virginia National Guard for VTech Instate Rates for out of state students

I'm interested on how their experience was and did they do their basic in the summer before their freshman year. And did they eventually contract while at school and if so in what year.
 
Unfortunately, there are not a lot of VTCC parents active here and none of my son's buds went through the Guard programs, sorry.
 
It looks like my DS may end up joining VANG for the in state tuition. He really really likes VTCC. Did not receive any financial aid for VA Tech. It has been a roller coaster ride the last few months for our household and a final decision has to be made soon.

I hear you. State School's LOVE LOVE LOVE the out of staters and almost never give money to them . A quote from a friend of mine that works in admission at Rutgers Univ here in NJ " Its a shame many in NJ cant get into their own State school because they seek out of staters for significantly more tuition profiles." Mine decided to Head to Norwich because of a school academic scholarship. that brought him down to VT instate cost. I suspect he will also join Vermont guard to get some extra monies. All the best to your DS
 
I'm in the VTCC and I know a bunch of people in the guard. I don't know the details since I myself am not in the guard, but it is a well traveled path here.
