I know that no one can tell me for sure whether I can get in or not. But I was wondering where I stand, and what I can work on. Here's just a brief overview without getting into too much specifics. Feel free to ask for more details though.

GPA 3.9 weighted, 3.85 unweighted. My school uses the deciles ranking system, but I think I'm in the the top 10% of the class.

Taking college prep courses. I will have taken four years of science, math, english, latin, and history. I'm also in orchestra, jazz band and pep band.

About 50 hours of community service with at least 20 hours more coming.

I play a lot of softball, though that is my only sport. I was on JV softball for two years and I lettered in it, though my school doesn't place heavy emphasis on letters. I just made varsity last week and I'm planning on doing it next year too. I also play in the summer and the fall.

leadership experience: President of Latin club, VP of pep band and lead trumpet. I'm also planning on running for student council, though I can't be certain that I'll get elected.

SAT: 2060 overall
Critical reading 740
Math 670
Writing 650

ACT: 30 composite
English: 28
Math: 29
Reading: 33
Science: 28

I also got into AFA summer seminar and I'm waiting to hear from Navy, hopefully soon.

Like I said before, I know no one can tell me for sure and everyone's situation is different, but it would be helpful if I could find out what I should work on. Thanks everyone! I'm learning a lot on this forum.

impressive gpa and test scores.

I would work more on sports and leadership positions in them; also if you join student council try running for class president next year.

btw I am only a junior too and also applied to USNA's summer seminar! :shake:

Yeah, I'm not sure why, but we don't have team captains for softball. I think it's just the coach's personal choice. I'm definitely going to try and work on the leadership aspect part. I'm aiming for a couple of things that may help. Thanks for the advice, and let me know if you get into NASS!

Scores are fine, I got admitted with:

ACADEMICS:
4.2 Weighted, 3.9 Unweighted
Full IB Diploma program (~36 points)
Critical Reading: 800
Math: 750
Fluent Spanish
~College-level: History, Physics, Spanish
~AP: Math, English, Theater

SPORTS:
Varsity Soccer
- Team Captain
- (hoping for MVP this season)
Varsity Cross Country:
- Team MVP x2
- Coach's MVP
- Team Captain

LEADERSHIP:
Outside of team Captain, nothing really. Was my MAJOR deficiency.

I would say I am about in the middle of the pack, so work on your sports, that's just about all you need to do. Everything else is very impressive. Remember that something like 75% of Mids lettered in two Varsity sports in High School.

Okay, thanks for the advice. That's a very impressive SAT score you have and good job in the athletics part.

twinter your academic history is really good.

Chanmachine, you're looking pretty good right now. Keep working on it!

TWinter, I have 36 predicted as well. He-he, good luck in May!

Two Small Areas

A superb package. Two VERY small areas to work on.

GPA 3.9 weighted, 3.85 unweighted. Taking college prep courses.

The lack of distance between Weighted and unweighted, indicates mostly standard level courses. Take AP/IB/Honors courses as offered. You will want to have challenged yourself academically, since the academics at the academy are VERY challenging.

SAT: 2060 overall
Math 670
670 is very good but many will have better Math SAT scores.

Given that you have time, work on it.

As I said to begin, an outstanding package. Keep it up.

Thanks for the advice! I've been taking SAT prep courses and I am taking the march SAT, so hopefullly I can boost my math another few points.
