Are AP test scores considered in the admissions process? Would a 5 on the AP Chemistry Test help my package since all plebes have to take chemistry?

Good question, and perhaps others will confirm or correct my understanding that this would have no bearing on 3Qed process or appointment.

Possibly on exempting from required chem course(s)?

Are AP exams not only offered in May and if so, would they not have been posted with your initial transcript?

No I'm currently a junior and wondering if it would be helpful for the upcoming admissions process.

I took 3 AP classes my senior year. My thought behind them was if I do well, I'll send them, and if not, I won't. I got two 5's and one 4 so I sent them. While I don't think they can hurt you, good AP exam scores show that you are capable of excelling in a college level course and therefore can excel at the Academy. During my nominations process I found that having these scores on my application was also a big help. Having the courses on your schedule is important, but at least a 3 on the exam is beneficial. As far as I know, you can't use those scores to exempt out of certain Plebe courses, you can only do that if you do well on the entrance exams over Plebe summer.

To the best of my knowledge, AP scores are not used for admissions purposes. They may help with validation, depending on the subject and score.

A great question to which I have never heard the CGO address. Probably because all the critical AP courses, calculus, physics, and chemistry, are not taken until senior year and by the time the AP score arrive, the final determination has already been made. Definitely a question for me the next time I am talking with Admissions.

Chemistry is definitely important, perhaps the most important course one can complete as a high school student. AP is definitely at the highest level a secondary school offers so the supposition that it parallels college work is very valid. For the Academy to rely solely on the teacher's grade would require that they have a history of AP scores for that particular school while the AP score would be a standardized benchmark that stands alone.

I would say to submit it. The worst that can happen is that they ignore it. However, I seem to recall, it has been a while since I looked at a transcript, is that at least some high schools report it as a part of the standard certified transcript. Not sure though.

Not necessarily. My son took AP chem and an AP calculus course in his junior year.

I'm in AP US history and AP BC Cal (somewhat struggling) right now.

Keep in mind, not every school offers AP or IB. In fact, my school only offers like 2 AP classes; however, I am also in IB.
