Hello all,
I have already received my appointment to the Class of 2018, and I'm currently enrolled in 5 AP classes. The deadline to register to take the AP tests at my school is Feb. 28th. From what I understand everyone takes the validation tests, so is there any reason for me to pay $91 per test to arrive at West Point and take the same exact validation test?
AP classes currently enrolled in:
Physics
Calculus AB/BC
European History
American Government and Politics
English IV (Literature and Composition)

It is not the same validation test. If you do not have a 4/5 on a AP test then I don't think you can try to validate (I may be wrong). You can also try to validate if you did dual enrollment.

Plan B

Also, if something happens and you don't end up at R Day - the AP test may be wanted for your Plan B. Just saying, a few people end up diverted at the last minute.

From what I remember, History did not have a validation test- they just used AP/college course credit
Calc and Physics both have tests, but I think the AP scores go into your overall package to validate (i.e, if you don't do well but got a 5 on the ap calc test, you might still validate)
English had a validation test. I forgot what the criteria was to get the invite to take it, but we were told we could go try even without the invite and I ended up validating
I never got a straight answer from the Sosh department whether or not you could validate American Politics with a 5 on the AP gov test

BatonRouge2018, ask yourself this question; "Would I take the AP exams if I was not accepted to West Point?". The answer is probably "YES!". You truly will need those scores to validate courses and YOU WANT TO VALIDATE EVERYTHING YOU CAN. I promise you will thank us later. Best of luck to you and congratulations on your appointment. Keep working hard!

See if you can find the Validation requirements online or called WP. Navy had theirs posted last year.
