Apple vs Windows?

Our DS has mainly used a Windows-based PC - Word, PowerPoint, Excel - throughout his schooling. However, the engineering/drafting software such as Adobe and Autocad seems to work far better on an Apple. I have both operating systems on my Apple, but the performance is not optimal which could be due to our EXTREMELY slow internet speed.

He is wondering which computer to request? Do you all have a preference? Can they have two computers?

Everything in the AF is done on Windows computers. They all get the same one. They have to pay for it. The cadets also all have tablets. That is up to them. My DS has a Samsung Tablet 8, I believe, but there are tons of cadets with iPads as well.
 
If you are referring to the computer science question on the appointee kit, it is simply a question, not a request for a type of computer.
 
I would use the computer that the cadet is more used to. To me, Apples are great but over priced computers that are hard to upgrade. If the cadet is allowed to use his own computer, then any PC can be built to compete with anything out there. Plus if he is gamer (not sure how much time would be available anyway or even allowed) PCs are the way to go
