Applicant status

"Applicants will start being promoted to candidate status on the 15th of July. Promotions will occur in waves based on when the pre-candidate application was completed. About 130 will be promoted a day. Expect that it will take about a month to clear the backlog." - In the Know

I'm just reiterating what has been said. I have reached out to an admission counsellor and I was told they're currently reviewing applications, and that they would be reopening applications soon. So it seems about right.

Ok well we shall see later on today.

Our son's application was deemed competitive in May but we have not seen any documents on his portal to complete. What does "applications open" mean exactly? The timeline we received in the mail says that we should have scheduled the PAT and submitted his official transcripts in June but we don't have access to the forms 148 or 158. Are these the forms that should be available on his application portal now?

From what I understand, the majority of us "competitive" applicants are still in the precandidate phase. In order to make it to the next phase, where supporting documents are submitted, the admission board has to put the applicant in the candidate phase. We were speculating as to when AFA would allow applicants to proceed to the next phase. Honestly, it should be any day know since July is almost over.

Thank you... I read the application steps everyday thinking I have missed something. It can be frustrating but we're willing to see it through!

My status still hasn’t changed to the candidate stage. My application was deemed competitive. What does this mean?

Status changed this afternoon to "candidate" with list of forms to be completed-deadline October 31st- attended Summer Seminar so I'm assuming that's why my completed app is due earlier. Good luck to all!

That's awesome. I'm rooting for you [emoji3].

I was also promoted to "Candidate" this afternoon. I also went to summer seminar if that has anything to do with it.

Seems like they're promoting SS folks first. I spoke to an ALO, and he said it could take another 30 days before my application opens up. In short, it could be until mid-august before my application opens up.

What date did you submit your Pre-Candidate questionnaire? Our DS submitted his on March 11th.

My emphasis added. Please! It's JULY. You will be certifiably insane if you do this EVERY DAY from now until notifications go out... in March or later.

Sorry, nope. Summer Seminar really has nothing to do with it. I do hope you had a good time, and saw & did things new to you. It will not affect your application, your nomination, nor your appointment.

Again, VERY unlikely. While a person selected for SS may indeed be a worthy candidate, there really is no correlation.

OK folks, for all of you just beginning this process: please!!!!! RELAX!!!!! You have so far to go. Take a breather.

Don't worry, I'm sure most of us will start to calm down once we get into our applications.

I'm fully aware that Summer Seminar has practically no bearing on whether someone receives an appointment or not. I only mentioned that because while we were at Summer Seminar, we were told by an admissions counselor that Summer Seminar kids would receive candidate status at almost the exact same time. I just wanted to see if that has been confirmed or not.
