Applicants For The Class of 2023

Question for you, have you already applied to Girls state up there?

Not yet. My school does it based on teacher nominations, so I have pestered my guidance counselor many times about when that process starts. The self-application has not opened for the Connecticut branch yet, either.

Just wanted to let you guys know, admissions responded back that they had received it, and I also got the confirmation email. Everyone else get it too, or are their any lingering problems?

So what do you guys think of the mock elections at Boys State, my representative (not sure what else to call him) from the Legion explained that it was a bit of a popularity contest for the positrons (Gov & Lt. Gov especially) and that the results of said elections are already somewhat decided going into it. I hope it's not that way, but what are you guys hearing?
I went to Boys State last year. In Illinois it was absolutely a popularity contest. Also who could make people laugh. A guy won governor by pretending to be a chicken farmer who mentioned doing unspeakable things with his family. It was quite ridiculous but it was a decent week.

Hey AJ,
You mentioned that you went to Illinois Boys State last year. I'm a fellow Illinoisan and so far everyone I've asked either hasn't heard of the Boys State program or have just heard vague details about it. How did you end up getting sponsored to go? What did you end up doing during the week? Honestly I would appreciate any info or comments you have on the Boys State program.

Are you guys following any particular progression for training for the CFA? I am a three sport athlete so it makes it tough when it’s not in between seasons, but I am curious if anyone is doing anything besides lifting and practicing the test (which is what I’ve been doing).

So question for everyone; does anyone have any particularly unusual or intersting things they particpate in activtity wise? I'm curious how out of the box activites compare to traditional ones in terms of admissions. For example, mountaineering as opposed to the more common football. I, of course, am not saying more traditional activities are of any less worth, merely just curious how un-common activities compare.

Well from what I know they like activities that get you in shape and become physically fit. Also, activities that require teamwork and hopefully you being the leader of that team.

NY-04, USNA hopeful so don't hate me too much

Haha, we're all on the same team in the end. Except at Army-Navy. I was at the game this year and there was some serious competition.

I applied to NASS session 3 (though I felt like a traitor while doing so). Did you apply?

Now that I’ve completed the cadet questionnaire and summer seminar application, do I need to be approved by admissions in order to access the rest of the application? Or does the actual application not come out until the summer?
