Im a 15 year old freshman in high school and have some achievements but I would like comments on other stuff that I could do to make me more competitive for admission.
-varsity girls soccer team
-varsity cross country
-track and field
-won 1st place in the district brianbowl twice in my 7th and 8th grade
-placed 1st in algebra 1 math Olympiad competition when I was in 8th (lots of other schools were there, and almost all of the competitors were high schoolers)
-Beta club member
-top 10% of class
-very physically fit
-just joines the Sea Cadet Corps
I think there may be a little bit more but this is most of it. There are other Brainbowl competitions and math Olympiads coming up. What else could I do that would make an application stronger? Thanks for any input

1. I would definitely check the pinned posts at the top of the USNA forum- they are amazing resources.

2. Search up "rate me" posts to see what others have accomplished- but keep in mind that whatever you do should be from the bottom of your heart and not just to fill a resume. And also that everyone has different goals.

3. Volunteering played a huge part in my application and was the reason that I wanted to serve. It is something vital to character development (understanding material, leadership, initiative, being caring, etc.). Try to check with the local library for easy volunteer opportunities/or give back and help out with Honor Society events.

4. Do something that YOU enjoy. If anything the Academy is not for everyone and making yourself miserable is not worth the time investment- so find something that you enjoy and stick with it. If your thing is hiking then maybe you start a hiking/adventure club at your school that does trips on the weekends.

Challenge yourself in the maths and sciences by taking AP/ higher level courses. Take leadership opportunities and see what works for you. Girls State is a great opportunity to take advantage of if you're eligible. At my high school there were several individuals whom applied this year and I am the only one whom has not been rejected (so far, knock on wood)- we all had different reasons for wanting to attend a SA and ALL of them were valid reasons no matter how morally conflicted I felt about their reasons. Welcome to the crazy adventure of applying to a SA, and I hope that you are met with a fair wind and a following sea. Don't give up the ship!

Nice start. What state you from. Competitiveness of your district makes a lot of difference.

Start taking the ACT/SAT, and keep taking it. That is perhaps the most important single assessment factor, although all are important. Academies superscore, and you will improve the more you take it.

Keep doing g what you are doing. Work on student council and NHS officer spots, and eventually try to become president. Team captain in your varsity sports is also big.

If you stay motivated you will accomplish your goal.

Thanks , and I am from Florida. Isn't that a competitive state?

I believe California, Virginia, and Florida are very competitive due to the amount of military bases located in these states (among other factors like the states population).
