My DD will have all of her essays in this weekend and CFA completed by the last week in October.(Pull ups were holding her back!) Her file will be complete except for medical and noms. She checked with her field force rep end of september and said she was fine. I'm not sure what the means. Is end of October a stretch? Or is she still OK?

If her FFR said she is ok...then she is good to go. If she has any questions - she should contact her FFR or RC....big smiles! She is in good hands if she is following the advice of her FFR/RC...

Others may correct me on this, but USMA doesn't have early decision or rolling admissions. They make their annoucements starting in Jan.

Whereas USNA has rolling admissions. They've already announced their appointments (not very many).

Whereas USAFA has early decision using staggered application deadlines.

Whereas USCGA has a straight up early action deadline.

For your DD the early the better, but there is no set "early decision" deadline for USMA.

Thanks for the response. I thought that was the case but I wanted to be sure. My DD didn't want to ask her FFR again for clarification because she thought she was asking too many questions that she should know. She had bombarded him with questions earlier and she never got a drop dead date for the application from him so no absolute deadline makes sense. Earlier would definitely be better. I agree.

Depends on how you define "early decision," West Point does have early decision - Letter of Assurance (LOA): A conditional offer of appointment that states something along the line of you meet all the requirements, you will have a spot in the incoming class. I have seen candidates with incomplete applications get LOAs.

Mere0233, my guess is when the FFR told your DD she "was fine" that she is on track to complete her application in a timely matter to not have adverse impact on her competitiveness. As stated before without the medical exam your DD could be considered and offered a LOA. Has West Point authorized her DoDMERB exam?

They have not authorized her DoDMERB yet but she hasn't completed her CFA yet so maybe that has something to do with it. We were hoping for the LOA since she was told by admissions that due to her class rank she would have one with a 28 ACT score. She scored 2 points below so didn't get one. She has since tried the new SAT and liked it much better. Hopefully, those scores will be better.

Best of luck.

From what I seen, how West Point handles LOAs are "fluid," so today yes, tomorrow no, day after tomorrow yes.

@Mere2033 sorry to dig up an old thread, but would you mind my asking what your DD's class rank was?

Sure. She is 10th out of 91. Had a rough 7th semester but I guess it was good practice.

Was that her rank when the RC told her she could get an LOA with a 28? Sorry, just trying to get an idea of what may be worthy of an LOA

At the time she met her RC she was 2nd out of 102. The RC was pretty lenient on the test scores most likely because of her class rank. AP Calculus grade of C+knocked her down to 10th and she never got the 28 ACT score. No LOA so I was surprised she got an appointment the first round.
