Application for 2018

I need some help. While my DD is away at BCT, I am helping out her friend with any questions they may have. Currently, they do not have access to the application for next year's class. Is it open? If so, is there a person they can contact? They have filled out the pre-application and received notification they are qualified, etc. Thanks. :smile:

Yes, the application for the class of 2018 opened 1 March 2013. They should try the website: https://admissions.usafa.edu/secure/Online/Eligibility.htm.

My DS is also a 2018 applicant. He competed the pre-candidate online application and was informed of his candidate status shortly afterwards. He was told that he would receive more information in July. As far as I know the application has not opened up yet. Hope this helps!

It's not open now, my ALO said I would hear more later this month about it. I did the prelim a long time ago as well.

I helped DS fill this out this weekend. The information said we would be notified if he was qualified and then the rest of the application would open in August. This is the statement from his portal:

Due to sequestration, candidate kits for competitive applicants will now open in August 2013 instead of July 2013. Additionally, because of mandatory furloughs, the Selections Division will be closed every Friday starting the 12th of July through the end of September (and your counselors will unavailable). If you wish to contact your counselor by phone, we recommend calling Monday thru Thursday from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM MST. An email is still the best way to contact your counselor. We will answer all inquiries as soon as possible, but expect processing delays and backlogs to occur during sequestration and possibly beyond.

I'm also I 2018 hopeful. If it makes you feel better I haven't heard anything new since filling out the Pre-Candidate Questionnaire either.

Thank you this helps a lot. I was trying to recall the dates from last year, but my daughter did most of it on her own and she is at BCT now so I can't ask her!

While at Summer Seminar, they told us that the latest we would receive the application would be August 1. Maybe someone could verify, but that is what the admissions people told us. Good luck everybody!
