Hey all!

I want to start this post to save a bit of time by saying I'm painfully familiar with the application process, I am a re-applicant and currently in college. My application has been "done" for a bit now, with the only thing that had yet to be submitted was my college transcript for the first semester. It was delivered to the Academy on the 6th of January, yet still shows my application as "incomplete", with it saying they still need my college transcript. However, under the "uploaded documents" (where you'll find your letters of rec, high school transcript, SSN card, etc), it says they have the transcript. And I saw a post on here from around 2012 that some believed that your application will stay "incomplete" for the entirety of the cycle, and the transcript request will only clear once they receive your spring one (where you will know if you got an appointment by then).

So I guess my question is, first off is this true? And secondly, because it says incomplete on my end, how do I know that it is being reviewed? Thanks in advance.

Why not start with contacting the admissions directly? You will hear valid and up-to-date information on your file, instead of guesses from others here,

Agree. Those are very reasonable questions that only Admissions can answer. Good luck - I hope it's good news.

All Stop!

Suggesting that they need to review spring semester grades before reviewing your record does not pass the giggle test. I don't care what someone posted in 2012, it is just flat out wrong because that would prevent any college applicants from getting in and there is ample evidence that college applicants do get appointments. Use your head on that one.

The fact that on one had they show receipt of the information but then say incomplete is most likely a case that its there, they know its there but they haven't had a chance to process/review it yet. That question is worthy of a call to admissions, don't ask about having to have spring semester transcript in.

They respond to me relatively quickly- generally within a few days.
just because it does for you doesn't mean it's like that for everyone. I've sent several voicemails, emails, etc, never get anything. It depends on what team you have - and I won't say which team I have for their sake. Everyone get's a different experience!

I had the same problem as you did. Turns out, it is usually just an error and they make a correction as long you email about it to them. I will say though it does take them some time to respond. You should be fine though as long as you turned everything in on your part!

I have a similar issue; the one form I had left I send to them and got an email saying it had been received and processed, but my portal still says incomplete. My admissions team has been pretty good so far, but have not responded in a week now to two different emails. Hopefully they will fix it soon.

It’s frustrating, I’m sure. But? They are in the busiest time for them. There are actual, legitimate issues with the new CIS/BGIS programs that have been installed just this cycle. This is the “work the glitches out” first use. In particular, it seems all piece are not ‘communicating’ with other pieces (ie: an email says ‘received’, yet doesn’t reflect in the portal...or similar things).

So an admissions officer is putting out fires, emails from candidates/appointees, etc, on top of their already busy day. At the busiest time of the year. With less than ideal communications due to Covid. And a whole new IT system. With the IT department already working at their limits trying to set up/continue virtual classrooms/learning.

While FRUSTRATING....I get it ....it’s understandable. Think about your own life, where you have a ‘to-do’ list taller than your head. You make decisions/prioritize as needed. And you get through that day, and go home. Hopefully at a decent hour. And come back the next day to the pile. As frustrating as it is, I’m sure it’s equally, if not more, frustrating for people working within those parameters.

Emails get buried. I would suggest trying to call again. It will take a few. I’m sure their phone rings all day, but maybe you will get lucky and get a pick up.

They have also tried to remedy this by providing another outreach outlet: live chat. Give that a try? I feel bad for admissions people every year....especially this year. Unable to be as effective as they can, bc of tech issues. And potentially a thousand candidates needing to double check something. Which I would also double check!! It’s a valid concern for sure. But...it’s a cruddy year. Period. And in part why the deadline for USNA was extended by a month.

Good luck everyone. Try the chat bubble 💬. That’s what I would advise.

Agree! I have emailed admissions for various things. I get a reply from them but every reply I get seems like a who new person is replying. It’s a little frustrating having to explain your issue 7 times (In the same email thread).
