So....has anyone who did NOT attend SLE had their application open yet?
I didn't go and my application has been open for around a month.
Best to contact FFR or the Regional Commander. I believe it varies from RC to RC. My RC told me that he will not be opening up applications (or the second step kit) of non-competitive applicants. He follows up with a message telling the applicant such and what he or she needs to be become competitive. I believe my RC is the process of notifying non-competitive candidates now.
I will try that. DS portal has always said that initial review will not start until 7/25 at the earliest so to be patient. We are trying to be patient. Sent the transcript, class rank and resume as requested by Refional Admissions team. That is updated on the portal. So maybe I will have him e=mail them - they are great at getting right back to him.
That's a great idea, my portal actually said the exact same thing before it opened up. Some candidates in my state did not have theirs opened up until a few weeks after mine, so it's a mystery to me.
I know that in my region, many applicants will not have their 2nd stage files open. If a candidate is not competitive, we would be wasting everyone's time to go through requiring that second set of requirements.
If your file is not open and you have not received a letter from your RC saying it is closed - contact your RC by phone or email.
Yeah! The application opened this morning. He had e-mailed and yesterday they said to let them know if it did not show up today, and it did. So now to begin! He started 5 college applications, and the AROTC scholarship application, and now this and the nomination applications - trying to get as much done as possible this week and next, before sports, band and school start big time in September. I see it as being a great test of his organizational skills, and perseverance as he tackles the part he is least fond of....all those essays!
